Abstract

The container, esp. for a bottle of wine, consists of an outer solid and rigid envelope (1) which is shaped to fit over the bottle (2) with an aperture (3) at the top with an inner seal (5) to fit round the bottle neck. It has an opening (6) at the bottom to receive the bottle which can be closed by a cover or stopper (7), pref. threaded, which forms the base of the container and has a pressure seal (8). The inner surface of the container, esp. near its lower end, has a series of equally-spaced radial projections (9) which hold the bottle at a distance from the inner wall, and the inner dimensions of the container and the size of the projections are such that an air space is formed between the bottle and the envelope. The container can be made from a transparent material such as methyl polymethacrylate with a magnifying portion over the bottle label, or it can be of an opaque plastic with an appropriate inscription or advertisement. It can be made with a carrying/manipulating handle.
