Abstract

The sectional boiler has rectangular section combustion chamber (1) with rounded corners made up of a set of sections between end sections (12, 13), surrounded by a water jacket (2) with an upper collector duct (4) and a lower collector duct (3), interconnected by vertical channels (5) to form a heat exchanger. There are hot gas circulating slots (6) between the vertical channels (5) and deflector ribs (8) above and below the slot to circulate the hot gas around them and towards the corner regions (7). Further horizontal ribs (10, 11) form a zig-zag path between adjoining boiler sections to improve the efficiency by causing turbulence around the vertical channels. The ratio of the width to the height of the combustion chamber is about .95 to 1.05.
