Abstract

The indicator for a weighing or measuring instrument is illuminated at several points around its periphery, using optical fibres, for conducting light from a light source to the latter. The ends of the optical fibres are angled so that the light is directed obliquely across the surface of the indicator parallel to the phase of the latter. The periphery of the illuminated indicator surface may be surrounded by a conductor (1) translucent to light, into which the ends of the optical fibres project, so that the light provided by the latter is diffused. The latter conductor (1) may have a reflective coating on its rear faces, or may be provided with a coloured opaque coating.
