Abstract

Ink chamber for a rotary print machine has an additional intermediate wall between the input ink zone of the ink roller and the first intermediate wall so that a further chamber is generated between the two intermediate walls.

Description

The invention relates to a doctoring chamber for rotary printing machines according to the preamble of claim 1.

Such doctor chambers are used primarily in flexographic printing machines. For example, EP 0 822 897 B1 shows such a device. In Rakelkammem this known type, the frontal sealing presents a problem.

In order to reduce the dynamic pressure occurring in the region of the end seals, by which the color is pressed to the outside, proposes DE 43 02 671 A1 an applied to the roller, frontal seal before, consisting of individual, extending in the circumferential direction of this roller webs consists. Also DE 94 05 883 U1 shows such an arrangement of a plurality of webs.

In DE 42 41 792 A1 an end seal is proposed which comprises a sealing shoe which is formed with a plurality of sealing ribs in the manner of a labyrinth seal. In one embodiment, the sealing ribs extend parallel to the circumferential direction of the roller, which is in operative connection with the front-side seal.

When using said plurality of color chambers forming ribs or webs multiply the transmission probabilities, so that in the first chamber less ink enters than in the second, which is closer to the filled ink reservoir of the ink chamber.

However, the aforementioned improvements of the frontal tightness by the use of multiple webs or ribs leaves nothing to be desired.

Therefore, the object of the present invention is to propose a doctor chamber in which the end seal is improved.

The object is solved by the characterizing part of claim 1.

Accordingly, the use of at least one intermediate wall in connection with shortened doctor blades is proposed. The thus improved sealing effect is due to the fact that in operation in doctoring chambers of the prior art, color or ink residues creep along the doctor blade and in this way reach the end-face seal of the doctor blade chamber directly. A use of doctor blades, which already end between a partition and the seal, helps this problem. The paint or paint residues then drip from the end of the doctor blade and are collected in the chambers and discharged through holes or pipes. However, this measure is only possible if the doctor chamber is not tilted against the shortened doctor blade, since otherwise runs out of ink between the end of the shortened doctor blade and the seal.
It is particularly advantageous in this context to form the closing squeegee in the manner described. This circumstance comes about because the closing squeegee scrapes off excess, partially dried ink from the anilox roller. These paint residues are deposited on the outside of the doctor blade. In particular, these ink residues can significantly affect the function of the face seals of the doctor blade chamber when they fall into the space between the seal and the roller. This possibility does not exist when using shortened closing doctor blades, since the ink residues then pass into the first or second chambers and are discharged from there through the bores or lines assigned to the respective chambers.

Doctor blade combs according to the invention are suitable both when using an open (atmospheric pressure) and when using a closed (color is under pressure, optionally pumped) Farbzuführungssystems.

Further advantageous embodiments and embodiments of the invention will become apparent from the other claims, the physical description and the drawings.

FIG. 1a shows a section through an embodiment of the invention. In this figure, it can be seen clearly that the anilox roller 2, which rotates in operation in the direction of the curved arrow 3 about the axis D, the Ink chamber body 4 and the closing 23 and work doctor blade 24 limit the ink chamber 1. Furthermore, it is shown how the two doctor blades are held by the support rails 16. FIG. 1b shows a plan view of the doctoring chamber 1 with the anilox roller 2 removed. In addition to the elements shown in the other figures, the positions of the cuts NN and MM are to be recognized, as well as the bores 26 for the fastening screws of the doctoring chamber.
Figures 2 to 4 are views of the aforementioned embodiment, wherein the doctor blade and its support rails are not shown. These retaining rails are attached to the doctoring chamber body 4 with the fastening elements 6. The frontal cover of the doctoring chamber is effected by means of the seal 7. This seal is made in the embodiment of a flexible material. The seal 7 has a clamping plate, not shown, as an end stop. This clamping plate is locked with likewise not shown screws which engage in the threaded holes 17 on the doctoring chamber body 4. In this connection, the seal 7 is usually locked between the web of the doctor chamber body 25 and the clamping plate. Between the seal and the inking zone 14 of the anilox roller are the two intermediate walls 11 and 13 which define the first and second chambers 9 and 10.
From this description, it will be understood that by coloration zone 14 are meant those portions of the anilox roller 2 which are intentionally colored. In the illustrated devices, this is the case in the axially central regions of the anilox roller 2, which are located between the two second partitions 13. The possible possible coloring of the anilox roller in the region of the chambers 9, 10 and the seal 7 in the edge regions of the inking roller occurs unintentionally.
For manufacturing reasons, the two partitions 11, 13 in the examples shown part of a one-piece intermediate wall body 22 which is secured by a fastening screw, not shown, on the doctor chamber body 4. This screw is in turn screwed into the threaded hole 21. Paint or paint residues, which get into the two chambers are discharged through the bores 18 and 19, which have the function of an outflow. Of course, such a bore can also be designed so that it simultaneously performs a drainage function for several chambers. This is the case, for example, when an intermediate wall 11 extends centrally over a bore and the bore has a diameter which is greater than the intermediate wall thickness.
Figures 5 to 7 again show the embodiment including the doctor blades and support rails. The closing squeegee 23 ends, as already mentioned, in the first chamber 9. Therefore, the squeegee chamber 1 shown should not be inclined against the closing squeegee.
The difference mentioned several times to those already described in FIGS. 2 to 4 consists in the representation of the support rails for the doctor blades 16 described here. FIG. 7 moreover shows essential features of the invention in section. So here are the drain holes 18, 19, the one-piece partition body 22 and the seal 7 clearly visible. Furthermore, it is shown how the seal 7 between the web 26 of the doctor chamber body 4 and the clamping plate, not shown, which was already mentioned in the description of the first embodiment, is attached.
In both embodiments shown only a second partition was inserted. However, it is also possible and inventively introduce more partitions.
It should also be mentioned that in both embodiments ink feeds are present in the central area of the ink chamber 1, which were not shown in the figures.
