Definitions
- the present invention relates to a Wheelchair.
- EP-0 887 064-A2 which forms part of the state of the art under Article 54 (3) EPC, describes, for example, a wheelchair of the type mentioned at the beginning; whose frame is closed and therefore relatively rigid.
- This frame consists of a front horizontal cross member at user height, a rear horizontal cross member which is formed by an axle tube of the rear wheel pair, and two L-shaped side members, each of which connects one end of the front cross member to one end of the rear cross member, each side carrier has an upright leg and a longitudinal leg.
- a front wheel device with a single central front wheel or with two spaced front wheels is attached to the front cross member.
- This wheelchair has a high degree of rigidity and, thanks to the front wheel device which is generally arranged in the central region of the front crossmember, is easy to turn and easy to maneuver. It is mainly used as a sports wheelchair.
- the main disadvantage of this wheelchair is its low stability against tipping; it is therefore less suitable for everyday use and is considered unsuitable for severely disabled and older users.
- Elements of the wheelchair described in EP-0 887 046 A2 have become known through an obvious prior use. This apparent prior use is regarded as the closest prior art and forms the preamble of claim 1.
- a wheelchair is known from EP-0 255 804-A2 , which has a front cross member at foot height, two side members and a rear cross member in the form of an axle tube for a pair of rear wheels.
- the side carriers are I-shaped and consist of an upright leg, to which a front wheel is attached, and an adjoining rearward side leg.
- the rear side leg is connected in its rear area to the rear cross member via a support element and a holding device.
- the intermediate piece is accommodated in the holding device in a height-adjustable manner. In this way, a frame is obtained which, although closed, does not have sufficient rigidity due to the non-rigid connection of the support element and the holding device.
- the object of the invention is therefore seen in to improve the wheelchair mentioned at the beginning that he has a high level of rigidity Stability and thus an improved lateral Tilting stability, so that it can be safely from severely disabled and elderly disabled can be.
- the new wheelchair thus points like the previous one Wheelchair has a closed frame but thanks to the large mutual on the front wheel carriers Significantly spaced front wheels more stable and laterally more stable
- Another advantage of the new wheelchair is in seeing that it gives the possibility of the front wheel carriers to be placed relatively far above the ground, so that front wheels with a relatively large diameter can be used, making driving on uneven ground and overcoming Levels is facilitated.
- front wheels with different Diameters.
- front wheel carriers in different positions relative to the longitudinal median plane of the wheelchair at the upright Legs of the side carrier must be attached.
- the front wheel carriers can be parallel or oblique, each forwards or backwards, or laterally across extend to the longitudinal median plane of the wheelchair, whereby each of these arrangements also has certain advantages offers certain disadvantages.
- the farther the front wheel carrier extend to the side the bigger they get Stability and the lateral tilt stability.
- Front wheel carriers extending far forward increase stability.
- a disadvantage of these arrangements but are the less easy to turn and the Danger of such protruding front wheel carrier objects touch around the wheelchair and thereby a handicap for the wheelchair movement form.
- front wheel carriers are parallel to the median longitudinal plane or directed obliquely towards it.
- forward directed front wheel carrier is generally the Footprint larger than with rear-facing front wheel carriers, and also the foot area protect the user against injuries, if the front wheels are the foremost and possibly form the side of the wheelchair.
- forward and front wheel carriers directed slightly towards the longitudinal center plane you get a very large footprint as well as good turning ability and avoids colliding the front wheels with the environment, but such Front wheel carriers can be used for the arrangement of the footrest to be inconvenient. In many cases there are front wheel carriers proven that slightly backwards inward are what you can do with sufficient stability gets good turning ability and front wheel collisions avoids.
- the front wheel carriers can with respect to their Position to the longitudinal median plane of the wheelchair also adjustable be attached.
- the attachment should be free of play and not loosen during use.
- this increases the weight of the wheelchair and it becomes less easy to turn because of the extra Weight at a relatively large distance from the center of gravity of the wheelchair.
- front wheel carrier is adjustable in height attached to the upright legs of the side straps are, you also get the opportunity to vote to changing requirements front wheels with different To mount diameters.
- the front cross member can be integral with the be made both side beams. But it did proven to be favorable to design the front cross member so that he is on both sides towards the subsequent upright leg of the side carrier extending approach, over which it is adjustable in height attached to this upright leg is.
- the height adjustment of the front cross member is particularly necessary when on it a footrest is formed.
- the footrest can but also on the upright legs of the side straps be attached.
- a footrest integrated in the frame allows a foot position in which the knees of the Users are bent less and consequently the feet are placed further forward.
- the bearings for the rear wheels are in the rear hub and are designed so that the Rear wheels in a known manner with thru-axle in angle adapter sleeves assembled and therefore easy to disassemble are.
- the angle adapter sleeves are in the assembled state for the axles of the rear wheels, which in general are designed as thru axles, across Direction of travel and slightly upwards to the side so that the wheels, as usual with wheelchairs, under one certain camber are arranged.
- the rear wheels can be adjusted precisely rear crossmember, with the angle adapter sleeves fixed in it, be rotated until it's that location occupies in the right angle adapter sleeves are in its correct position; to this A spirit level can be used on the rear crossmember be installed.
- the angular camber is aligned on the one hand according to the dimensions of the wheelchair and on the other hand according to the respective purpose of the wheelchair and is therefore preferably changeable.
- the camber can be advantageous by means of such adjustable angle adapter sleeves according to the invention between 0 ° and about 15 ° can be changed.
- a bike is an institution with a front wheel, a drive and one Steering.
- the wheelchair is attached to the bike and forms a drivable unit together with the bike.
- This unit runs on three wheels, namely the wheel of the bike, which forms a front wheel, and the back of the wheelchair, which is in the back form arranged impellers.
- This arrangement is for conventional wheelchairs with one certain disadvantage, namely with the tendency of the wheelchair and thus the unit to tip backwards.
- the wheelbase that is the mutual Distance between the front axle of the bike and the rear wheel pair of the wheelchair, enlarged.
- the rear wheels and their attachment are designed so that the rear wheels between a front position in which they are using the wheelchair without Bike, and a rear position in which the wheelchair less risk of tipping and therefore suitable for biking, let it move.
- the enlargement of the wheelbase can be achieved, for example, by the rear ends of the longitudinal legs face backwards have extending extension part which the rear crossmember or the axle tube in different layers can be attached.
- the seat of the wheelchair is between the longitudinal legs of the side beams and can be attached to this.
- the seat is attached to two additional ones Seat side straps attached, and the rearward facing Longitudinal legs of the side beams are light directed downwards.
- the seat rails are attached so that they are in the front are pivotable about a point of the longitudinal leg and at the back an adjustable distance from the longitudinal legs to have.
- a seat stay device arranged; this has two seat stays on, each of which pivots at a pivot point is attached to one of the seat side members and in selectable effective seat stay length on the longitudinal leg the side member of the frame is attached.
- the longitudinal leg thus forms on both sides below the seat, the seat side member and the seat stay each Triangle in a vertical plane.
- the maximum slope towards the bottom, which the seat can take up due to the inclination of the longitudinal legs of the side carrier determined, and the maximum forward tilt below that the seat can take is by length the seatstay determines.
- the seat stays have a variety of lengths Have holes.
- the two seat stays parallelize by means of a crossbar arrangement.
- the seat side member at the front ends the longitudinal leg of the side member of the frame provided in the longitudinal direction.
- the wheelchair according to the invention becomes the seat with the two longitudinal seats by part of one formed from the frame removable seat module.
- the seat module usually includes in addition the actual seat a back, preferably only the seat is attached to the frame of the wheelchair, while the back is in turn attached to the seat, preferably so that the angle between the seat and back is adjustable, preferably so far that the Back on the seat can be folded to the Reduce the transport volume of the wheelchair.
- the seat side members are in such a seat module preferably to increase stability connected at least one seat cross member, and in one particularly suitable embodiment form the Seat side member and a rear seat cross member a U-shaped seat frame through a further, provided in its front area, Reinforced seat reinforcement beam arched downwards can be.
- the seat can be rigid.
- the seat flexible material such as a fabric section, used on the generally a replaceable Seat cushion lies.
- One designed as a wedge pillow Seat cushion allows further influence on the inclination of the seat.
- the seating module includes the seat just described and the back, the is attached to the seat without being directly to the frame of being connected to the wheelchair.
- the back has two lateral, mostly tubular Back supports on, whose lower ends over Angle plates on the rear area of the side rails are attached; a certain adjustability can be achieved be made by for fixing the angle plates different holes, be it in the angle plates and / or in the seat side members and / or in the back supports be provided.
- the back of the wheelchair can be folded down onto the seat, so the angle plates are attached so that they are around their two fastening axes on the seat side member and can turn on the back support.
- two side fixing plates are provided, which are firmly attached to the seat side members and which contain slit-shaped openings, through which pins of the back supports protrude.
- the fixing plates form when the back is not folded on the seat is, angle struts between the seat rails and the back supports.
- the breakthroughs point to theirs rear ends transverse to them and when not folded down Back upward locking openings for the Cones on.
- the slightly elastic fixing plates are on their rear ends connected by a cord.
- the fixing plates are by means of Screws attached to the seat side members; around an optional attachment in different positions to enable them instead of a single one Drilling several adjacent holes included for the screws.
- the fixing plates can also be used for fastening of side clothing protection plates that are used can be screwed to the fixing plates, or for attaching a wheel splash guard.
