Abstract

The lamp holder has an insulating housing with contacts (13) contained in respective reception chambers, each cooperating with the corresponding lamp contact pin at one side and provided with a screwless clamp terminal for the respective conductor lead at the other side. Each contact has an integral retaining spring (23) engaging the wall of the reception chamber and provided by a radially projecting crown with opposing edges spaced apart by a distance which is slightly greater than the width of the reception chamber. These edges are deflected by insertion of the contact to grip the reception chamber wall.

Description

The invention relates to a lamp holder, in particular for halogen incandescent lamps, with a socket housing made of insulating material with receiving chambers for one contact each, which on the one hand forms a screwless connecting terminal for a conductor and on the other hand forms a contact part for a lamp contact pin, and which is used for fixing in the receiving chamber its material has molded retaining springs.

The mounting of the contacts causes not inconsiderable problems, particularly in the case of halogen light bulb sockets of the G4, G ... 5.3 and G ... 6.35 series, owing to the small overall volume, in particular the low overall height of such sockets. It is known to cut out spring tongues on the opposite two long sides of the contact and to push them slightly outwards out of the wall in such a way that they run with a slight inclination to the wall and point backwards against the direction of insertion of the clamp into the socket. So that these retaining springs can snap into the receiving chamber for the contact, locking shoulders must be formed on the flanking walls of the receiving chambers, behind which the free notched retaining spring ends can snap.

In order to be able to form such locking shoulders in the hollow chambers, special molding tools are required which leave slit-shaped openings in the insulating material body, be it made of plastic or porcelain. These openings have the disadvantage that they sometimes with the Insertion openings for the lamp contact pins are mistaken or a lamp is handled so clumsily that one of its pins engages in such an opening. Because of the poor dimensional accuracy of porcelain frames, the required precision in the assignment of the locking elements is not always guaranteed.

This is unsatisfactory. The invention is therefore based on the object of providing a lamp holder of the type outlined in the preamble of claim 1, in which the anchoring of a contact in the associated receiving chamber of the holder housing is substantially improved.

The invention solves this problem with the features of claim 1. Thereafter, the invention is characterized in particular in that the retaining springs are designed as claws projecting essentially radially from the contact with respect to the direction of insertion of the contact into the contact chamber, the opposite free end edges of which around clear inner width of the receiving chamber are spaced apart from each other, bend when inserting the contact into the receiving chamber against the insertion direction and thereby enter into a positive and non-positive locking with the wall of the receiving chamber.

As a result of this configuration, it is possible - and also desirable - to make the walls of the receiving chambers completely smooth. The effect of the positive and non-positive tensioning of the retaining springs is based on the one hand on their originally essentially radial alignment, but above all on the fact that they are bent in the direction opposite to the insertion direction due to their excess compared to the cross section of the receiving chamber. They thus stand within the chamber in which the free ends of the retaining springs engage on the chamber wall against the direction of insertion and thus form barbs resisting against the direction of extension of the contact. It has been shown that the inventive design and arrangement of the retaining springs leads to an absolutely secure anchoring of the contact not only in the case of plastic frames, but above all in the case of porcelain frames, despite the sensitive, harder material and despite the imprecise dimensional accuracy.

The claws can be designed as arms which protrude essentially radially from an annular disk formed on the contact and project laterally over the circumference of the remaining contact body. This makes them just as easy to punch out of the sheet metal for contact as the notched and slightly bent spring tongues previously.

The annular disk is preferably arranged concentrically to the conductor insertion opening of the contact. This ensures that the retaining forces exerted by the retaining springs are practically aligned with the possible pull-out forces that can be exerted on the contact when the conductor is pulled. In other words: the retaining springs anchor the contact in the socket housing exactly where the highest, the Contact can act on pulling forces.

According to a further embodiment, the annular disk is formed on the rearmost end of the contact, which is opposite to the insertion direction. The aim of this is that the retaining springs in the receiving chambers of the socket housing only take effect towards the end of the insertion process, that is to say they do not have to scrape along the receiving chamber walls over a longer distance.

The annular disk is preferably connected to the contact body in a free-standing manner on one side over a narrow peripheral region. This makes it particularly easy to control when punching the sheet metal blank and shaping it to configure the contact. The total spring action or elasticity resulting from the one-sided connection is also not undesirable when inserting and clawing the retaining springs formed on the ring.

A lamp holder designated in its entirety with 10 (FIGS. 6 and 7), in particular one for halogen lamps of the types G4, G ... 5.3 and G ... 6.35, comprises one made of insulating material, primarily plastic or porcelain , existing socket body 11. This has two receiving chambers 12 for one contact 13 each. The chambers 12 are accessible from the underside (FIG. 7) of the socket body 11, whereas the insertion openings 14 for the lamp contacts are located on the top side (FIG. 6) of the socket. Through holes 15 can also be seen, through which fastening elements such as rivets or screws are inserted to attach the socket 10, for example, to a lamp sheet.

The contact shown is composed of two parts. One, outer or cage-like part 16 is punched out of a thin Cr-Ni sheet and bent into the apparent shape. A second terminal part 17 is e.g. enclosed in copper sheet. In the present case, this second part, which is approximately U-shaped in the view, forms the two contact spring legs 18, between each of which a lamp contact pin is inserted.

Diese Anschlußklemme umfaßt eine biegsame Kontaktfederzunge 21 (Fig. 3).The other part 16 includes a screwless connection terminal for the stripped end 19 of a conductor 20 to be connected, which end is provided with a crimped-on ferrule 19 '. This connection terminal comprises a flexible contact spring tongue 21 (FIG. 3).

As can be seen above all from FIGS. 3 and 4, the plug axes of the lamp contact pin and the conductor end 19 run parallel to one another.

A special feature of the invention is that the contact 13 is provided on its bottom 22 in a special way with a series of retaining springs 23. The bottom 22 of the contact 13 is understood to mean its end facing the lower side of the socket, that is to say that end part of the contact 13 which is looked at after it has been inserted into the receiving chamber 12 (FIGS. 4 and 7).

The retaining springs 23, which are made of the Cr-Ni material in the case of the two-part contact as described and which would be made of the same or similar material in the case of a one-piece contact, extend with respect to the direction 24 in which the contact 13 in the Socket body 11 is inserted radially outwards. In the exemplary embodiment, the retaining springs 23 are arranged on a small annular disk 25 in a radially outward direction by being cut out of this ring, which is only connected on one side to the rest of the clamping part 16 via a very narrow material connection zone 26.

In principle, the free outer edges 23a of all retaining springs 23 lie on a common circular arc. The corresponding circular arc shape can be found in two part-circular wall sections 27 of the receiving chambers 12. However, these have a smaller curvature diameter than the outer diameter on which the edges 23a of the holding tongues 23 lie.

If a contact 13 is inserted in the insertion direction 24 (FIG. 3) from the bottom side of the socket body 13 into a receiving chamber 12, towards the end of the insertion movement the sharp teeth of the retaining springs 23 come into contact with the smooth wall sections 27 in such a way that - as shown in FIG 9 schematically illustrates - the tooth-shaped retaining springs 23 do not completely follow the insertion movement in the direction of the arrow 24, but are bent back against the insertion direction 24. This position, indicated by solid lines in FIG. 9, retains the retaining springs 23 then at. The configuration can be compared to that of a plate spring which is closely fitted in the receiving space 12. Any load in the opposite direction 24 would mean that the sharp front edges would be buried even more firmly in the insulating material of the socket body 11.

In order to ensure the intended geometric shape and physical effect of the retaining springs 23 with certainty, it goes without saying that the depth of the receiving chambers 12 must be greater than the height of the space that is required to receive the clamp 13 as a whole. As a result, the "safety path" indicated schematically by 28 in FIG. 9 is available for the deformation and the force development of the holding spring 23.

It is advantageous that the retaining springs 23 surround the terminal-side receptacle for the stripped conductor end 19 practically concentrically like rays, because all essential forces that could lead to tearing a terminal out of the socket body 11 result from tensile forces from the conductor 20 on the Act on terminal 13. The holding forces of the holding springs are consequently effective where the pull-out forces counteracting them occur.
