Abstract

A garden chair including a back rest, a seat, and a cross frame defined by first and second pairs of support braces rotatably connected together through a first axle. The first pair of support braces are also rotatably connected to the front of the seat through a second axle, and the rear of the seat is rotatably connected to the back rest through a third axle. An arm provided with a longitudinal slot connects the second pair of braces to the back rest, with the third axle passing through the longitudinal slot. A free end of the arm and the back rest are engageable in a plurality of positions to permit vertical adjustment of the seat.

Description

The invention relates to a chair, in particular a garden chair, with an inclinable backrest and a height-adjustable seat on a cross frame with two pairs of support struts which are pivotally connected to one another about a central axis of rotation which is substantially parallel to the front and rear edge of the seat, the seat in the region the front seat edge is pivotally articulated on the one pair of support struts about a second axis of rotation parallel to the central axis of rotation and is movably guided in the longitudinal direction in the region of the rear seat edge on the other pair of support struts and can be fixed at different distances from the center axis of rotation.

Derartige Stühle, insbesondere Gartenstühle, sind bekannt (FR-A 2 338 019). Such chairs, in particular garden chairs, are known (FR-A 2 338 019). The pair of support struts of the cross frame with which the seat cooperates in the area of the rear edge of the seat is part of the backrest of the chair and is formed by two outer, arcuately curved longitudinal struts of the backrest, namely from the sections thereof extending below the seat. The seat has a rod which extends at a distance from the rear seat edge and is approximately parallel to this seat edge, the two ends of which are received and movably guided in two mutually aligned, inner longitudinal grooves of one or the other longitudinal strut of the backrest, and which are guided with two Comb-like teeth on a swivel frame connected to the backrest for fixing the seat in the area of the rear edge of the seat interact at different distances from the central axis of rotation of the cross frame. The rectangular swivel frame is arranged between the backrest and the rod of the seat, is pivotally mounted on the backrest about an axis of rotation running above this rod and parallel to it, and is provided with an upper and a lower, parallel to this axis of rotation actuating rod and two side struts, on the rear of which , the rod of the seat facing sides one or the other comb-like toothing is formed, which are aligned with each other. Due to the suspension described, the swivel frame has the tendency to pivot towards the rod of the seat due to its own weight and to remain in engagement with the rod with its comb-like toothing.

To adjust the height of the seat, this rod must be raised and the swivel frame on one of the actuating rods swiveled against the effect of its own weight on the backrest, then the rod of the seat moved up or down as desired and finally the swivel frame must be released again to engage with to be able to pivot the rod. With this height adjustment of the seat, the inclination of the backrest changes accordingly, since the rod of the seat runs with the two ends in the inner longitudinal grooves of the two longitudinal struts of the backrest. The mechanism described for height adjustment of the seat with simultaneous inclination adjustment of the backrest is relatively complicated and complex and prone to failure, because due to the relatively large length of the rod of the seat and width of the swivel frame, which extend across the entire width of the chair or the backrest thereof, Alignment errors, incorrect locking between the rod and swing frame, jamming, etc. cannot be excluded. It also requires relatively complicated movements and a certain amount of force to operate.

The invention has for its object to provide a chair, in particular garden chair, of the type specified, in which the height adjustment of the seat is improved with simultaneous inclination adjustment of the backrest, in particular is trouble-free and reliable, without the respective user excessive force and make complicated movements of the chair, the locking of the chair in the respectively set position should also be visually controllable and a resilient design of the chair should be possible, as well as the simple realization of different interdependencies between seat height and backrest inclination.

This object is achieved by the features specified in the characterizing part of patent claim 1. Advantageous configurations of the chair according to the invention are characterized in the remaining claims.

An embodiment of the chair according to the invention is described below with reference to the drawing, for example.

Darin zeigen, jeweils schematisch:

  • Fig. 1 eine Seitenansicht eines erfindungsgemäss ausgebildeten Gartenstuhls;
  • Fig. 3 den Längsschnitt entlang der Linie A-B in Fig. 2.
Therein show, each schematically:
  • 1 is a side view of a garden chair designed according to the invention;
  • FIG. 2 shows the view from behind of the garden chair according to FIG. 1, namely the view in the direction of arrow II in FIG. 1; and
  • 3 shows the longitudinal section along the line AB in FIG. 2nd

The garden chair consists essentially of a seat 1, a backrest 2 and a cross frame 3, which allows the height of the seat 1 to be changed above the standing area.

The cross frame 3 has a central axis of rotation 4, which runs essentially parallel to the front seat edge 5 and the rear seat edge 6. The seat 1 and the backrest 2 are pivotally connected to one another about an axis of rotation 7 parallel to the central axis of rotation 4.

Auf dieser ist auch der Sitz 1 schwenkbar gelagert, so dass also die Achse 10 die erwähnte Drehachse 7 gemäss Fig. 1 definiert.2, the backrest 2 has four mutually parallel, spaced-apart longitudinal struts 8, which at the top Ren end are connected by a cross strut 9 and sit on an axis 10 at the lower end. The seat 1 is also pivotably mounted on this, so that the axis 10 thus defines the mentioned axis of rotation 7 according to FIG. 1.

The cross frame 3 consists of two pairs of support struts 11 and 12 which are pivotally connected to one another about the central axis of rotation 4. The pair of support struts 11 is pivoted at the upper end in the area of the front seat edge 5 on the seat 1 about a second axis of rotation 13 parallel to the central axis of rotation 4. The other pair of support struts 12 extends downward on the side facing away from the seat 1 from the central axis of rotation 4 and is provided with a central arm 14 for latching connection to the backrest 2.

The arm 14 is designed as a metal fitting and is formed by two mutually parallel plates 15 and 16, which extend across the central axis of rotation 4 between the associated pair of support struts 12 with a wider section 15 and 16 and are thus fastened to the pair of support struts 12. In the area of the narrower part of the arm 14, which extends in the middle between the two mutually parallel support struts 12 from the central axis of rotation 4weg to the seat 1 and to the backrest 2, the two plates 15 and 16 are at a greater mutual distance from one another to form a longitudinal slot 17. The third axis of rotation or the axis 10, which connects the backrest 2 and the seat 1 pivotably to one another, extends through this.

The arm 14 can be fixed with the free end 14 ′ on the backrest 2 at different distances from the third axis of rotation 7 or the axis 10. For this purpose, the arm 14 has at the free end 14 'two lateral, aligned locking pins 18, and two mutually aligned locking slots 19 are provided on the mutually facing inner sides of the two central longitudinal struts 8 of the backrest 2, between which the arm 14 projects which protrude the locking pins 18. As can be seen particularly clearly from FIG. 3, the latching slots 19 which extend in the longitudinal direction of the backrest are each comb-shaped and provided with a plurality of side slots 20 which are arranged at different distances from the third axis of rotation 7 or the axis 10 between the backrest 2 and seat 1 and which are located on one another the side of the respective locking slot 19 facing away from the seat 1 and enclose an acute angle a with the longitudinal axis 21 of the respective longitudinal strut 8. In the locked state, the two locking pins 18 each engage in two mutually aligned side slots 20 of the two locking slots 19 in order to support the backrest 2, which is fixed with respect to its inclination by the fact that the third axis of rotation 7 or the axis 10 which the backrest 2 connects to the seat 1, in the longitudinal slot 17 of the arm 14 leads GE. As can be seen particularly clearly from FIG. 3, the arm 14 is bent. By appropriate choice of the shape of the longitudinal slot 17 or the course of the same, it is possible to assign any inclinations of the backrest 2 to different heights of the seat 1.

In the case shown, the seat 1 occupies the highest position, since the two locking pins 18 of the arm 14 engage in the lowermost side slots 20 of the locking slots 19. In order to lower the seat 1, i.e. to reduce its distance from the standing surface of the garden chair, it is sufficient to raise the backrest 2 slightly so that the two locking pins 18 of the arm 14 from the two lowest side slots 20 of the two locking slots 19 on the backrest 2 run out, after which the backrest 2 is lowered until the seat 1 assumes the desired height, whereupon the two locking pins 18 of the arm 14 are inserted into the side slots 20 of the two locking slots 19 of the backrest 2, which are then flush therewith, by corresponding movement of the latter, to keep the garden chair in the new position of seat 1 and backrest 2.

The garden chair is very light and easy to use to adjust the height of the seat 1, and the reliable mutual locking of arm 14 and backrest 2 can be checked by visual inspection. The stability and stability of the garden chair are excellent.

If the arm 14 is made of spring steel, for example by using spring steel sheet for the two plates 15 and 16, then in conjunction with the angled shape of the arm 14 which can be seen particularly clearly from FIG. 3, there is an excellent spring action, i.e. cushioning of the seat 1 and the backrest 2 in relation to the cross frame 3. This resilient design of the garden chair, which can be implemented in the simplest way without additional effort, increases the seating comfort considerably.
