Abstract

The disk brake (2) has a disk with a friction surface (3) contacted by brake pads on jaws (8) in a fixed brake caliper (6). There is a brush arrangement (11) at the trailing edge (12) of the caliper to collect dust produced by wear of brake pads. The brushes may be made of fibrous material or copper or metal alloy including copper/nickel alloy. Fibrous materials may include ceramic or basalt fibers, silica or high quality non-rusting steel yarn, glass or aramide fibers, resistant to temperatures of up to 1000 degrees C, and mounted on fire-resistant insulating material.
