Abstract

"MéTODO E SISTEMA PARA HARD HANDOFF EM UM SISTEMA DE COMUNICAçãO DE BROADCAST". Um método e sistema para um handoff em um sistema de comunicação de broadcast. Um handoff auxiliado por assinante é impraticável em um sistema de comunicação de broadcast devido, por exemplo, a uma elevada carga de sinalização, uma dificuldade para sincronizar a transmissão de broadcast. Por outro lado, o pequeno número de canais de broadcast habilita a estação assinante a efetuar o handoff de forma autónoma. Ao se efetuar um handoff entre transmissões de broadcast, ocorre uma interrupção de serviço devido à ausência de sincronização entre transmissões de broadcast. Para reduzir a interrupção de serviço, sob detecção de uma necessidade para um handoff, as camadas inferiores informam à camada de aplicação sobre a proximidade de handoff. A camada de aplicação dessa forma pode tomar providências para reduzir ou prevenir a interrupção.
