|My name is Nathalia Fernandez and I am running for State Senate in the 34th District. I’m a proud latina and daughter of immigrants. Like many in the Bronx, my story starts with my parents coming to this country to seek opportunity. Watching my father start and run his own small business, I was taught the value of hard work and community, which sparked a lifelong passion for public service.I want to build resiliency for our coastal communities, increase transit access, funding for our schools and bring good paying jobs to uplift our local economy.
- I am a voice for this community. As an Assemblymember, I have made it a point to be present in our neighborhoods, having real conversations with our constituents and bringing those concerns to the halls of Albany. My work is geared towards real solutions.
- I want The Bronx and Westchester not to just recover from the pandemic, but to thrive and I have the experience to make that happen.
- I have brought millions of dollars to schools, parks, community groups and health institutions in my current district.
Climate change is a constant concern for this area. Our coastal communities are threatened and our roads and transit systems often flood. We need to build long term resilience for this district through investing in infrastructure that stays strong against climate change and providing homeowners with assistance to protect their property.
Transportation access is another central priority. The East Bronx is a transportation desert. Since my days as a staffer, I have fought for transit access for this area and now I want to make that a reality. We need transit access to connect our communities and continue to build economic growth for the area.
I have a history of championing small businesses. While COVID set many local businesses back, I know I can give them the strength to thrive. I will do this through addressing the high property taxes that are getting in the way of their growth and honor the diversity of this district through uplifting minority and women owned businesses.

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
