Jacob Ashby (Republican Party) (also known as Jake) is a member of the New York State Senate, representing District 43. He assumed office on January 1, 2023. His current term ends on January 1, 2027.
Ashby (Republican Party, Conservative Party) ran for re-election to the New York State Senate to represent District 43. He won in the general election on November 5, 2024.
Biography
Jacob Ashby lives in Castleton, New York. He served in the U.S. Army from 2006 to 2014 as a civil affairs officer and in the U.S. Army Reserve. Ashby earned an A.A. in individual studies from Hudson Valley Community College in 2000, a B.S. in occupational therapy from Keuka College in 2002, and an M.B.A. from Clarkson University in 2015. His career experience includes working as an occupational therapist with Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital, St. Vincent Healthcare, and Albany County Nursing Home, and opening and operating Ashby Adaptive Occupationl Therapy. Ashby served as a Rensselaer County legislator.[1]

Special election
A special election for the position of New York State Assembly District 107 was held on April 24, 2018.
The seat was left vacant after the resignation of Steven McLaughlin (R). McLaughlin resigned in January 2018 to become a Rensselaer County executive.
Jacob Ashby (R) defeated Cynthia Doran (D) in the special election. Unofficial results showed Ashby winning with 50.8 percent of the vote.[2]
