Jim Wright (Texas)
Jim R. Wright was a judge on the Texas Eleventh District Court of Appeals. Governor Bush (R) appointed him to this court in March 1995. He retired December 31, 2017.[1]
Wright served as chief justice of the court from 2005 to 2017. Governor Perry (R) appointed him chief justice in September of 2005.[2]
Education
Justice Wright received his B.B.A. from North Texas State University and his J.D. from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1971.[2]
Career
Wright worked for the law firm Wagonseller and Cobb during law school. He held this position until 1972, when he began practicing law in Eastland, Texas. In December 1979, Governor Clements appointed him to the 91st District Court in Eastland, where he served until his appointment to the Court of Appeals in 1995.[2]

Wright ran unopposed on November 6, 2012 and was re-elected with 100% of the vote.[3]
