Allen Kerr
Allen Kerr (b. November 19, 1956 in Little Rock, Arkansas) is a former Arkansas Commissioner of Insurance. He was appointed to the office by Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R) on December 17, 2014, and assumed office on January 13, 2015.[1] He resigned on March 27, 2020, in order to return to the private sector.[2]
Kerr is a former Republican member of the Arkansas House of Representatives, representing District 32 from 2009 to 2015. Kerr did not seek re-election in 2014.[3][4][5]
Biography
Kerr started Allen Kerr Insurance Company in 1981 and served as owner from 1981 until 2013. The company was purchased by Simmons Bank and turned into Simmons First Insurance, where Kerr served as president prior to his appointment. Kerr's public service includes stints as Pulaski County Justice of the Peace and budget chair for the Pulaski County Quorum Court.[1][6]

Kerr has served in the commissioner's office since January 13, 2015. He was first appointed by Gov. Hutchinson to replace Jay Bradford, who served from 2009 to 2015.[1] He resigned on March 27, 2020, in order to return to the private sector.[2]

Kerr ran for re-election in the 2012 election for Arkansas House of Representatives, District 32. Kerr ran unopposed in the May 22 Republican primary and defeated Barbara Graves (D) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[3][7][8]
2010
Kerr won re-election to the 32nd District seat in 2010. He faced no opposition in the May 18 primary.[9] He then defeated Democrat Carolyn Y. Staley in the November 2 general election.[4]
