Hearty, delicious German food and German beers on draft. A touch on the expensive side but nothing has ever disappointed. Service is nice and attentive. The fries are fresh made and the curry ketchup is necessary for sure. This is a nice break from some of the seafood and Asian cuisine typically found around Seattle's core (not that I could ever get tired of those).
They're doing their best at the moment to service the neighborhood despite COVID19, and it shows. Come support.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jun 10, 2020
We needed some carbs after attending Cider Fest for a few hours. We'd decided earlier to check out Feierabend, a German pub and restaurant, for their happy hour specials.
We dropped in on an early Saturday evening (around 5:30pm) and it wasn't busy. A couple picnic tables outside were occupied. Service was friendly and our waiter came by several times to check up on us.
There's a couple menus on the table but we were here for their happy hour (4:00pm to 6:00pm daily). A total of 9 food items to choose from.
- Gurkensalat ($6.00 US) - shaved cucumbers, radish and red onions in a sour cream vinaigrette. We ordered because we thought some vegetables were a good idea. Cucumbers were tasteless and watered down. Not very much flavour going on in this dish. Wouldn't get again.
- Currywurst ($6.50 US) - veal sausage with fries. Sausage was excellent. We also really liked the curry ketchup sauce that was great to dip in the fries. Fries were thin and lightly battered.
- Schnitzelscheiben ($6.50 US) - petite fried pork schnitzel with fries. Would be nice if they offered something besides fries as their side. The pork schnitzel itself was executed well. Lemon wedge was a nice touch.
Overall, Feierabend had one of cheapest happy hours I found in the area.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 24, 2019
A huge surprise in the quiet neighborhood of South Lake Union! For an area that's primarily dominated by the lunch crowds of Amazon and maybe some folks coming in for HH, Feierabend is happening! It's lively and busy on a Friday night and in an area that's pretty much dead elsewhere. There's enough people to keep things busy and bustling; but not so busy that you have to make reservations and there's a line-up out the door. I came on a Friday night around 7pm for a table of 3 and waited probably 20 mins or so.
It's a seat yourself environment and even though we had to wait, we were not disappointed. The beer list is - like everyone else said - extensive and a lot of great German beers on tap. I love German beer since it's lighter in nature and easy to drink. They have 3 different size options too and my boyfriend got the 1L TWICE!
We also ate dinner! We got TWO plates of the pork schnitzel and then some appetizers to share as well. The food does take a while but with good company; I can wait. The schnitzel is AMAZING! Deep fried to perfection - it's still moist and the crispy crust is done well. I love the shoestring fries too AND the housemade curry ketchup! Wow, I just love it all! I can't say enough good things and it's a large portion so sharing is caring!
We also got the pretzel appetizer and the cured sausages which were also great. I LOVED the variety of mustard which they gave us and honey mustard is my fav. Next time, I'm definitely going to aim for the schnitzel sandwich (which a lot of people also raved about) or even the charcuterie board.
Dying to go back sometime soon and I don't say that often. Highly recommended if you live in the area and if you don't - just take an uber! It's certainly not in a walkable location unless you're in the area but seriously - so worth it. The service is also friendly... not too much so but everyone in the restaurant is nice and friendly and just wanting to have a good time.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Feb 19, 2020
Came here for happy hour and "happy" that I did! Feierabend has a large and yummy selection of food and drinks at great prices. I got the Brat Sliders with Pommes Frites ($6) - it was so delicious and the fries were plentiful! My coworkers got a giant pretzel and pommes frites to share, and both were very generous portions. I recommend their ciders if you don't like darker drinks.
The waitress was lovely and happily allowed us to do all split checks (there were 14 of us). Only call-out about this place is that DOGS AREN'T ALLOWED. I understand that the restaurant reserves the right, but was shocked because it's right in the heart of SLU/Amazon campus.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 14, 2020
No German potato salad on the menu?!
That's ok. My wife loves the cuke salad, and I vacuumed up the red cabbage that came with the jägerschnitzel we split. The noodles that accompanied it were delicious, and the most authentically-German part of our meal.
Efficient service, cool beers, wifi, and new wave on the radio make this a solid place to eat and hang out. Prost!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 24, 2019
Service was EXCELLENT! Our waitress was friendly and knows her alcohol and German food.
Food was great! German bar food. I recommend the schnitzel and the trio sausage platter. I would
recommend dining during Happy Hour. The prices on food/drinks are affordable during happy hour from 4-6pm. My schnitzel and fries was less than $7.
My guest and I hung out for a couple hours and we never felt rushed to leave. The atmosphere is relaxing. It was an $8 Uber ride from our hotel off the pier.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Feb 22, 2018
While visiting my sister, we were pretty tired of Turkey the day after Thanksgiving. My brother-in-law was planning on meeting up some childhood friends at a German restaurant for lunch. After being stationed in Germany, I never say no for the chance to have some schnitzel!
Feierabend is a nicely sized restaurant/public house near downtown Seattle. Great wood ambience. Street parking only, but this was a weekend so it wasn't hard to find.
Ordered several pints and my jaegerschnitzel & pommes frites. Good taste and smell, it really helped to counteract the turkey glut. Total with tip was in the mid-20s, pretty reasonable. Someplace to get nostalgic about my 3 years being stationed in Germany! Recommend and repeat!Helpful 26Thanks 0Love this 23Oh no 0 - 332247236Aug 30, 2018
My dedicated Deutschland destination! Came here on my birthday and was very satisfied. Tucked away in the forgotten part of SLU this German bar is a gem.
They feature German wines that're actually good. They also have a large selection of imported beers, and of course a mug club. My friend is a member and has his name plaqued on the wall.
The happy hour is really good with a ton of selections between 4-8$. The normal food is also traditional German fare: spatzle, schnitzel, sausage, etc.
And of course, our highlight, das boot! Of which we had two xD. You can't put the boot down once you've picked it up so we just passed it around and drank it all up. It's a good way to get drunk really fast haha.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 16, 2018
I went here on a Friday night and all the tables were full. This place seems to be a pretty popular establishment for Amazon employees and people who are into drinking beer, specifically german beer.
Their menu has a wide range of selections and if you are not into beer, they have cocktails as well.
If you didn't know, they have a membership program where you have a punch card where you get punches for each drink you buy. If you are really into it, you end up getting different prizes at different levels (how many punches you have gone through). Ranges from a custom mug to stools with your names on them. (Look it up if you want more detail)
Since the place was pretty busy the night I was there, the staff was running around a little frantically. Nonetheless, they were attentive, nice and served us with everything we needed. No long waits and checked in every once in awhile.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Xuan L.New York, NY1502142Dec 27, 2019
DONT come here if you are looking for AUTHENTIC German food. Please go to Altstadt Bierhalle & Brathaus instead. They are not only amazing by food but also customer service.
After numerous German restaurants I have ever been, they serve the least-authentic and worst-taste Weißwurst I have ever had. Please see pictures for the authentic one vs the one served by restaurant.
Plus: one of the waiters had to use an extremely unfriendly and angry way to tell us we were wrong and he had been to Germany and said : too bad if you don't like it, which is eye opening.
Seattle is really nice and has really nice people but this restaurant really let me down.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
