Heal my stiff / stuck thumb knuckle?

I hurt my thumb knuckle joint many year ago, and it's been stiff ever since, most days it even "sticks" once or twice and takes time and sometimes pain to loosen up. How, if it all, can I help it finally heal?

I know you are not my doctor, but WTF is going on with my thumb ?

Backstory: Nearly 4 years ago, I severely pinched my left thumb between two boards when I was cutting them with a chop saw. It hurt like Hell, but nothing was broken, except the nail which was split midway between the base and tip across the entire width. The base part of the nail was slightly embedded, and the rest of it eventually detached over time. I kind of forgot about it except that I think I have some permanent nerve damage as the tip is slightly numb to the touch, but it really doesn't bother me pain wise. [more inside]

Tell me about finger tip prosthetics.

I have recently had a very silly accident with unfortunately serious consequences. I have lost the tip of my right thumb. I have lost from the base of the nail upwards-- I still have a working joint with full mobility and it seems like it will heal well with good feeling in the new tip. I am looking into prosthetics both for vanity and to lengthen the thumb for things like holding a pen, and I have some questions. [more inside]

How often does a residential septic system really need to be pumped out?

I'm getting conflicting opinions on how often a septic system needs to be pumped, and pumping isn't cheap. My current system is about ten years old, and it's been mostly just me using it. I've heard of other low-use households that have been pumped maybe once in 30 years. Conventional wisdom seems to be thus: pump every 3 years or so or risk anything from a bad smell to a total system wipeout and replacement. Is that for real? [more inside]

I need guidance on thumb pain/RSI symptoms that I can't find info on...

I'm getting some kind of RSI on the side of the end of my thumb (exterior, adjacent to the right side of my thumbnail.) It feels like it is burning and getting worse. It is the spot where I hit the spacebar/trackpad. I'm worried, but in reading up on thumb pain, can't find this particular injury, nor any suggested remedies.

I need to find a way to keep all of my various bits of information handy in one application on my USB drive - things like notes, to-do lists, addresses and project information - and would be very grateful for any recommendations or help you can give me :) !
