In need of a Goldilocks box

I am looking for a small clear box/case/bin with a lid, to hold a wooden puzzle that’s a family heirloom. The puzzle is a 7.5” circle, so an 8”x8” box would be ideal. Where can I find one of those? I am able to find smaller cases like these, and larger ones like these. But I'm striking out on finding sizes in between. [more inside]

It's 19 degrees outside and sweet kitty will not use litter box, help!

I'm in Austin where it rarely gets this cold, it's also very windy, so windchill is probably like 5 Fahrenheit or something. I'm house- and cat-sitting for a friend who is out of the country. Kitty, sweet older female, is used to going outside to do her business but it's too cold. [more inside]

"Le Maitre de la Boite a Chocolats." What does this French want to say?

In chapter 18 of The Moon and Sixpence, Maugham writes " The master of the box of chocolates." I'd like to know the source of this phrase if it's a kind of idiomatic expression. And why does he say"la (boite) " here? I only know "la" means "the" and "une" means "a" though .Thank you for helping my English and now, French!

Please Help Mayhem Eliminate Appropriately

Recent household disruptions have revealed that our kitty Mayhem dislikes sharing a litter box and was/is taking out her feelings on any available bedding, clean clothes and the now-removed forty-year old carpet. Please help us resolve this. The complicating factor is that we spent 10 years with a different cat who had litter box issues which we were never able to successfully resolve. As much as we love Mayhem, we just cannot do another 10-20 years of ruined carpet, floors and bedding. [more inside]

Is there some sort of personal video studio in a box for people?

You know those lighted photography boxes people use to take pictures of things for eBay? I want that for a person. Or several people, each getting the exact same setup. Something they could go in to and shoot short videos with. Just head and shoulders. Or frankly just head. There has to be something like that out there right?

Cool, intricate knickk knacks to get for 6 year old nephew?

Growing up I found an old wooden cigar sized box with different conpartments filled with unique coins, shiny rocks, and random knick knacks. I thought it was the coolest thing ever! I want to get something similar for my 6 year old nephew, and fill it with a few cool things that a modern day 6 year old would like. Any suggestions on a box (etsy maybe?) and some cool, intricate items to half-fill it with, so he can have some ideas to get his imagination started, and also have room to collect things on his own?

I'd like to have a run (100+) custom SNES game boxes printed

This is one of the weirder questions I've hopped on here to ask, but I figured if anyone would have the answer, it'd be the MeFi Hivemind. I'm working with a team on a game that was happily funded some time ago. Because its a retro nostalgia-thon, we'd love to offer a limited run of SNES boxes customized to our game. Finding the template was no problem, finding a printer is quite another. We'd prefer to ship them flat, but cut and scored so that when people got them at home, they could just fold and glue and blammo. We're having trouble finding a printer who could meet those needs- All of our previous print experience is in screen/offset/apparel, not in a weird custom job like this. Suggestions or thoughts on how to bring our SNES box to life?

Help me use my empty box!

I have a large flat box made of lightweight wood -- maybe pine -- that I have had for years. I would like to do something with it. It is about 18" square and about 1.5" tall, with the lid adding another half inch or so of headroom inside when it's closed. It is plain with a simple gold-tone hook latch. I have considered the idea of drilling holes and using it for a charging station but would like to consider other ideas before I either commit to that or give up and keep carrying it around. Any thoughts? Thanks so much!

Box spring or wood slats?

We just got a nice new mattress. It came with a box spring. We were using our old mattress on an IKEA bed (the Redalen, which I guess they don't sell anymore) with their cheap wooden slats, the Sultan Lade, as support. All things being equal, we'd stick with the IKEA bed and slats. But are all things equal? Are there advantages to using the box spring instead of the slats?

OS X packages under Box.com

Is there an incompatibility between Box.com and data files that are stored as packages under OS X? If I have a package file, say a .vpdoc data file for VoodooPad, I can transfer it to Dropbox in a short time, but if I try to upload it to Box.com using its uploader, it usually takes several hours for the upload to complete. I did a quick test using an 18.2 mb package. It's still uploading, but my calculation is that the upload rate is about 21 mb per hour. (I am on a fast cable internet connection.) I'm a long-time Dropbox user but new to Box.com, so I'm wondering if there is something I am missing.
