Red One: Watched this one on Friday with the seven-year-old grandson. He liked it and I think I liked it more than most. The reviews have been mixed to say the least. They take a very different take on Santa Claus, The North Pole, and Christmas. I do think they overthought it a bit too much, it could have kept it a basic action-adventure comedy and played up more of the supporting characters. The movie is PG-13 but the movie feels like it didn't know what audience it was going for. Me and the grandson also agreed some of our favorite characters didn't get enough screen time. I did like the characters, the plot and this different take. The execution just left a little bit to be desired. I definitely think it will go into the rotation for the boys. I look forward to hearing what others thought.

2023 Christmas Goodies
Christmas is always fun and Santa Claus blessed me more than I deserve. For maybe the first time ever, everything I received was on my list. I was really excited to receive all these. I've opened the random cards and watched the Justice Society: World War II animated movie while I've started reading volume 1 of Justice League. Boba Fett's ship (Micro GalaxyZ) came from my grandsons and it'll be added to my modest Boba Fett collection once I receive the custom stand I ordered. Shirts are always appreciated and Kawhi is my favorite NBA player. Motley Crue is a favorite band of mine and the Dr. Feelgood album is my favorite of theirs. Just lots of silly fun stuff . It's more enjoyable watching everyone else open their gifts but also seeing the joy they get from giving. Everyone have a fun New Year's Eve!

Christmas Holiday Movies Watched This December
The holidays are a fun time of the year for movies. I always try to watch as many as I can. It's also difficult with all the sports going on as well as family commitments. I was able to watch the classics Rudolph and Frosty with my youngest grandson who'd never seen them. Maybe my highlight this year. A Christmas Carol and How the Grinch stole Christmas are my go-to Christmas movies of late though Arthur Christmas isn't far behind. I hope everyone had a great Christmas.

A Boy Called Christmas (2021)
A Boy Called Christmas: This is an origin story of Father Christmas. Not one I'm familiar with but it was a good watch. Not sure I'll add it to my Christmas movie rotation but it was worth checking out.

2021 Christmas Goodies
I hope everyone had a great Christmas. Ours, like many others, is spread out as we can catch up with the kids and grandsons. Ours was fun as always . While I love giving presents at the holiday there's fun in receiving them as well. I really enjoy hearing the thought process the givers put into the gift and the joy they get from it.
Jumping into the Star Wars High Republic book series. I'd also been eyeballing that Braves book for some time. Yes, yes that is season two of the classic Fame TV series. Yes I already own the movie and season one. The Headbanger's Ball was such a favorite of mine as a teen when it hit so I'm pretty happy to get the shirt. Gift certificates always work and the Scooby socks go with the Scooby shirt......the Scooby shirt was part of the pajamas the family got from Mrs. Claus which is an annual tradition. Yep I got the same Marvel shirt twice. Love they they know me so well and it'll be easy to find one to exchange it for at the store. That tube at the top holds some Star Wars art that'll go up at work.
Slowly filling out my AC/DC music collection. Hot Tamales good! As are Target gift cards. We don't have one close but I always enjoy going to Targets.
Love that Black Panther shirt. Really cool colors and art. The Star Wars puzzle will keep me busy for a while. I hope you all had a blessed Christmas. I'm thankful for family and getting to spend it together.

2020 Christmas Haul
I'm a little late on this but Santa Claus was good to me on Christmas. It was a very quiet day with only immediate family but I did make it to see daughters on the days before and after Christmas. I received no cards this year but I also didn't ask for any. I'm extremely happy with everything I received. My family knows me so Star Wars is always a safe bet. The shirt came from a daughter and the dog leash and collar came from the same daughter that gave me these...
One of my daughters got me these which I think are really cool. They are "patent office" drawings based on DC, Marvel and Transformers. I really like these. They are weathered to give them a feel that they come from years ago. Just unique and cool. My plan is to put these up at work when I'm no longer teleworking.
I received a PS4 last year so I asked for two video games which were each half price by December. I love NBA 2K21. That does not mean I'm good at it or a gamer by today's definition but I really do enjoy playing it and will probably do a "review" at some point soon. Madden 21 is also really fun. I'm a big Heart fan so the DVD is a good add though I think one with more of their classic stuff is my preference. The Nickelback and AC/DC compact discs are nice additions to the collection. AC/DC can't be streamed or downloaded which I like. Have to buy their music old school...if CDs count as old school.
I've been slowly picking up the Star Wars SteelBooks. SteelBooks are niche and aren't necessarily that much greater than other releases but I like them for this purpose. Again Santa was good to me and I'm blessed to have received so much goodness. Can't thank my family and Santa enough.

Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey
Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey is a new Christmas movie from Netflix I watched last night and it is good. I really enjoyed watching it. Our adult kids suggested it to me and it didn't let me down. Jingle Jangle is a fun tail about a toymaker who loses his his way after all his ideas are stolen by an apprentice. The characters are done so well. Actors Forest Whitaker and Keegan-Michael Key are excellent but the star is Madelen Mills, the toymaker's granddaughter who helps him find who he is again. The energy and spirit she brings is infectious. It took me a few minutes to recognize her but Phylicia Rashad also has a big part in the movie. There are songs in this movie that are done well and one of the movie's producers is John Legend. Plenty to like here and I wanted to share before the big day tomorrow. Merry Christmas Eve!

Klaus (2019)
Klaus (2019) Netflix: I watched this one last night and I really enjoyed it. A unique take on the Santa Claus mythos it was very fun to watch. As I've gotten older I'm a bit more leery of animated movies but this one impressed me. The humor, story and characters were all wins. I will admit it took me a few minutes to get into it but once it got going I was hooked. It's definitely going into my holiday movie rotation. That's all I got but wanted to share some thoughts about this one.

The Santa Chronicles 2
The Christmas Chronicles 2: The sequel to the 2018 original movie was released around Thanksgiving. It stars Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn who was revealed as Mrs. Claus at the end of the first offering. This one is as fun as the first one and we see someone Santa and Mrs. Claus know try to foil Christmas for everyone. It's pretty light fair and is good for the entire family. Just wanted to share some quick thoughts on another Christmas viewing option.

Merry Christmas...and a PS4, and Star Wars and Julie Andrews!
Another Christmas that was so special because we were able to have all the youngins here on Christmas Eve. It was such a fun time. Of course Santa Clause came again this year and I must have been good to get such great gifts including a PS4. I know you are saying you know PS5 comes out next year...and you still use a PS3? I only play a few games so I don't have to have the most up to date console but they did stop making NBA 2K and Madden for the PS3 so it was time. I'm very excited to get it up and running this week. I'm also a big Julie Andrews fan and I'm excited for her new book. I read her first one and loved it. This one explores her time in Hollywood where her first book was about her life growing up. I also got a nice blaster of Rogue One Series 1 cards. My pull will be on the blog soon.
One of the daughters got me this cool light up Star Wars doo hickie. You can switch between these three patterns as well as choose among about 18 light colors. These are actual photos of it in the dark. It will also flash, change colors automatically and other cool stuff. Love it!
Another daughter got me this shirt. Too awesome. They get me. Again it was a great Christmas. And while the presents aren't the real reason Christmas was so special I'm always happy when blessed by family and Santa Claus. Merry Christmas!
Secret Santa Was Good to Me
Secret Santa was really good to me this year. Jared at the blog Cards My Mom Didn't Throw Out did me right. Thank you so much Jared. It starts with this Bob Horner auto - 2019 Donruss Optic Significant Signatures. Great card and as I told Jared I've made it a goal to complete my Horner collection as best I can in 2020 so this is a wonderful start. Thanks to Jon at A Penny Sleeve for your Thoughts blog for once again running the Secret Santa gift exchange this year.
He also nailed it with 82 Atlanta Braves cards that are great for the collection. They hit on so many personal favorites and were needs. Many are some I've never seen which is always fun. These three are all PC guys and Braves greats.
Some old school Braves greats were included as well. I love these guys and I have so few old school Burdette and Niekro cards.
That's a sweet Albies card and Freddie is such a stud. Is that a cool looking Klesko or what? I'm digging it.
There were also some PC guys to include these three guys. Baines makes that White Sox uni look good.
There were also 72 Red Sox cards and all great players. It was star after star BoSox player here. And that Clemons photo seems fitting for some reason. He really isn't the big baddy we all make him out to be but there was definitely an attitude there. That Pedro and Kimbrel are cool cards for me as well just because of the photos.
And there were plenty of shiny cards as well! Again big thank you to Jared. Go check out his blog for plenty of Diamondbacks love as well as other cool card posts. I hope Secret Santa was just as good to everyone else who participated this year.
Merry Christmas!

The Christmas Chronicles (Netflix)
A quick shout out to the Netflix original The Christmas Chronicles. This came out last year but I just got around to watching it. This was a fun movie. I wasn't sure after the first few minutes but it really is fun. Kurt Russell does a great job as Santa Claus. It isn't your run of the mill take on Santa but definitely a good one. The quick synopsis is after a father dies two children end up crashing Santa's sled and have to help him finish his night of deliveries. A good different account of Christmas night. I definitely recommend this one.

Merry Christmas! ...and Cards, Star Wars, Comic Books and more!
Merry Christmas to all and I hope Santa Clause was good to you. He was to me... First off were matching "I Want My MTV" for me and the wife from the kids. I love this shirt and when MTV started it was right in my wheelhouse as I was soon to be a teenager. Great fun. Overall I'm extremely happy. I received quite a few gifts I've wanted for a while now and my gifts were quite varied to keep me happy on many different fronts.
A 2015 Score football box which you'll see the results of sometime soon. These are cheap options for football cards and a great fit for me. There is one auto or relic in each box. I look forward to sharing my pull.
From our youngest daughter some Star Wars coffee mugs. This won't be my last Stars Wars related gifts and you can't go wrong with Star Wars and me.
The Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith steelbook. I like the steelbook editions of some movies and I've been trying to complete the Star Wars series so this is a great present. I've also needed some CD's to catch me up on bands I listen to so this of Beauty and Rage album from the band Red was a perfect gift. I really enjoy their music and I'm hoping I can catch them in concert sometime soon.
Another daughter picked me up these: Volume 1 of the Darth Vader canon comics. This series has gotten very good reviews and I'm looking forward to some fun reading. That crazy looking guy is an Atlanta Falcon pillow. There is Velcro on the bottom that, when undone, helps it turn into a 13" pillow. Pretty cool pickup from K-Mart before it closed.
Last but not least are the trade paperbacks of Green Lantern: Rebirth and Green Lantern: Fear. I'm a big comic guy and Green Lantern is my favorite hero, but my comic reading has been at a standstill for a long time for me. I'm hoping to catch up some on the great stories I've missed. Geoff Johns did a great job in his reboot of Green Lantern and I can't wait to catch up on his books.
Again Merry Christmas to everyone. I hope you had a great day.

Christmas Swag
As always Santa Claus was good to me. My daughters picked me up a Green Lantern coffee mug (my favorite comic book character) and the Star Wars: The Jedi Path and Book of Sith Deluxe box set. I'm a huge Star Wars guy and I've read most of the books but had never gotten around to picking these up so these were a great gift. My sister sent me Stormtrooper bubble bath. While my grandsons will get to enjoy the bubble bath, Stormtroopers are my favorites characters in the Star Wars universe so another good call. A Power Rangers t-shirt from our dog is a nod to the three year-old grandson who, along with his baby brother and my wife, received matching shirts. He is a big fan. The big gift was a Roku TV. I've got it all setup and online. I'm a little new to the who TV app thing but I'll get there. It is a cool TV that gives me many more options over the older flat screen I had. I hope Santy Claus was good to everyone else as well and a late Merry Christmas to you all!

Christmas Swag
It's been a super busy month and with my scanner on the fritz posts have been few and far between. That said this will be my 100th for the year, a new high for posts in a year. Christmas was good as always and Santa Claus brought goodies. The complete WKRP series on DVD and the classic Star Wars Black 6" Stormtrooper were both on my list of gifts I wanted this year. WKRP has long been a favorite of mine so I'm excited to be able to watch this great series once again. I love the Hasbro Star Wars Black 6" series of action figures but started too late to have this one in my collection so it was a must have. Stormtroopers are my favorite character from the movies.
Santa Claus made a surprise visit two days later in the form of two more figures from the Star Wars Rogue One movie - K-2SO and the Death Trooper. I saw the movie and loved it so these were must haves. I also nabbed a box of the Topps 65th Anniversary cards which I hope to review soon. I hope Santa Claus was good to everyone. Have a safe and happy new year.
