The Frigatebirds are a family of seabirds. In Latin, the family is called Fregatidae. There are five different species; all are classified in the genus Fregata. They occur in tropical and subtropical regions. The birds are adapted to a life at sea. The wingspan is between 175 centimetres (69 in) and 255 centimetres (100 in).
