As a user, I want to be able to preview search results in a non-confusing way, so that I can know more about results before clicking through.
To do
Review qualitative and quantitative feedback on hovercards and search preview features to determine whether or not we should disable hovercards on the search results page.
Background:
Search previews and hovercards on the search results page will co-exist when the former is released. While not exactly the same, this will cause some overlap in functionality, which users may find overly redundant, and/or possibly clutter the page needlessly. However, it also can ease a transition into a new feature without removing existing functionality for searchers, as well as provide new specialized use cases for both. This decision should be based on data and feedback from these features' usages.
Potential decision-making factors
- editor communities formally vote to disable/keep hovercards
- hovercard interactions decline in favor of search preview interactions
- search preview interactions decline in favor of hovercard interactions
- decrease in overall interactions in both hovercards and search previews
