- FIG. 14 is a diagram illustrating a communication sequence of control information between the playlist control unit in the CPU 21 and the Java control unit that controls the Java application when the playlist reproduction is controlled by the Java application.
- the Java control unit confirms the playback time of the playlist “000.plst” at regular intervals with the playlist control unit.
- the playlist playback unit notifies the current playback time of the playlist in response to a confirmation request from the Java control unit.
- the Java control unit recognizes that the playback of the playlist “000.plst” is completed, and next The process of the T5 part is executed, and the play list “001.plst” is reproduced in the same sequence.
- the T7 part is source code for executing the process for displaying the menu screen after executing the processes of the T4 to T6 parts (after displaying the playlist such as the trailer).

- An image signal is output to the external display device 21.
- the Java application program is described so as to decode the PNG file used for displaying the graphic image in the T3 part before the reproduction is started.
- the decoding process of PNG data or JPEG data is a very heavy process for a CPU specialized for a playback device.
- graphics display is not possible. This is because it cannot be executed smoothly. For this reason, there is a waiting time of several tens of seconds to several minutes from when the user gives an instruction to start playback until the decoding of the PNG file or the like is completed and the playback video is actually displayed.
- the video information playback apparatus performs simple resume playback that resumes playback as a playlist that does not use the Java application without operating the Java application. Thereby, the reproduction can be resumed promptly.
- the Java application since the Java application does not operate, the graphics “1” to “30” are not displayed, but the video and audio are reproduced.
- movie software that is generally commercially available, although some functions are limited, video, audio, and subtitles can be displayed even if the Java application is not running, Can understand enough.
- FIG. 13 is a flowchart of playback control executed to start playback of a Java application after simple resume playback and to skip playback of a playlist such as a trailer that is played before the menu screen is displayed.
- step S2 If it is determined in step S2 that the playback is not after the simple resume playback, the playlist “000.plst” is played back as usual (step S3). On the other hand, if it is determined that the playback is after the simple resume playback, the process proceeds to step S4, and an inquiry about the current playback time transmitted from the Java control unit in the CPU 21 is received.
- the playlist control unit in the CPU 21 notifies the Java control unit of the current playback time, but in order to omit the playback of “000.plst”, the playlist control unit sets “Out_time” in “001.plst”. The described playback end time is notified to the Java control unit (step S5).
- the Java control unit Since the time information of “Out_time” indicating the playback end time is notified from the playlist control unit, the Java control unit recognizes that playback of “000.plst” has been completed, and the next playlist “001.plst” The process proceeds to the processing of the source code of the T5 part for reproducing “.
- step S7 Since the process of the T5 part is to reproduce the play list “001.mpls”, the process proceeds from step 6 to step 7, and the Java control part issues a play instruction of the play list “001.mpls” (steps). S7). Thereafter, in response to the playback time inquiry from the Java control unit in step S4, the playback end time “Out_time” of the playlist “001.plst” is notified in step S5, thereby playing the playlist “001.mpls”. Omitted. Similarly, in the process of the T6 section to be performed next, the reproduction end time “Out_time” of the playlist “002.plst” is notified to thereby skip the reproduction of the playlist and proceed to the process of the T7 section. Since the process of the T7 portion displays a menu screen, the process proceeds to step S8, and the menu screen shown in FIG. 15 is displayed.
- the Java control unit In response to an inquiry about the reproduction time of each play list to be reproduced, the reproduction end time “Out_time” is notified, so that the waiting time until the menu screen is displayed can be shortened.
- FIG. 12 shows a video information playback apparatus according to the present embodiment in order to omit playback of a specific playlist among playlists played back until the menu screen is displayed after completion of playback of the main video by simple resume playback.
- the playlist syntax has been improved.
- the difference from the playlist shown in FIG. 3 is that “menu_flag” is added.
- “Menu.flag” is a playlist that can be skipped after simple resume playback, or that can be skipped, among playlists that are played back after the Java application program is started and before the menu screen is displayed. It is a flag for identifying. This “menu.flag” is set to “0” for a playlist that can be omitted, and is set to “1” for a playlist that should not be omitted.
- FIG. 16 is a flowchart showing the reproduction operation up to the menu screen display when simple resume reproduction is performed for the playlist to which “menu_flag” is added.
