Beit known that we, DANIEL OHARA, DAN- 1' m, \V. ELDREDGE, and JOI'IN LOGAN, of Walthom, in the county of Middlesex and State of 5 Massachusetts, have'inventcd certain new and useful Improvements in Alloys, of which the following is a specification. Our invention has for its object to provide an alloy or compound metal which shall be practi- 10 call y non-magnetic, inoxidizable, and will have a suitable coeflicient of expansion to adapt it for use as the material for one of the parts of the rini of a compensationbalance for watches or chronometers. r 5 Our improved alloy consists of a compound of plnti nu m, copper, nickel, and goldin about the following proportions: platinum, from thirty (30) to fifty (50) parts; copper, thirty (30) parts; nickcl, ten '(10) parts; gold, ten (10) parts. 20 \Ve do not limit ourselves to the exact proportions of copper,' nickcl, and gold abovespecified, but may vary thesamc within reasonable limits without departing from the spirit of our invention.
We claim-- An alloy or compound metal composed of platinum, copper, nickel, and gold, in substantially the following parts, viz: from thirty to fifty parts of platinum, thirty parts of copper, ten parts-of nickel, and ten parts of gold, as set forth.
In testimony whereof we have signed our names to this specification, in the presence of two subscribing witnesses, this 28th day of February, A. l). 1888.
