A principal object of the present invention is to provide a pry bar and nail puller that is specifically designed to perform prying operations in an improved manner.
Another object is to provide a pry bar and nail puller which is designed in several different models including a regular, a cane type and a round headed type.
Yet another object is to provide a pry bar and nail puller which is adaptable for gaining access into out-ofthe-way difficult-to-reach areas.
Yet another object is to provide a pry bar and nail puller which is easy on the arm of a person for eliminating excessive exertion.
Other objects are to provide a pry bar and nail puller which is simple in design, inexpensive to manufacture, rugged in construction, easy to use and eflicient in operation.
These and other objects will be readily evident upon a study of the following specification and the accompanying drawing wherein:
FIG. 1 is a side view of a pry bar and nail puller of one design.
FIG. 2 is a similar view of a cane type of pry bar and nail puller.
FIG. 3 is a similar design of a round headed type thereof.
Referring now to the drawing in detail, and more particularly to FIG. 1 at this time, the reference numeral represents a pry bar and nail puller according to the present invention wherein there is a regular pry bar model 1 l which is comprised of a single steel bar that is straight along a major center portion 12 and which is specially configurated at its opposite ends 13 and 14. At end 13 the bar has a bend 15 at a slight angle so that a short leg 16 projects therefrom angularly. At the terminal end, the leg 16 is flattened as shown at 17 and the end edge 18 has a central notch 19 of V-shaped character so to form a nail puller. At its opposite end 14, there is a right angle bend 20 adjacent which there is a U-shaped portion 21 which at its other end has a right angle bend 22 from which there is a short terminal extension 23 that is flattened and which at its end edge 24 has a V-shaped notch 25 to serve as a nail puller. The regular model is 3 feet and 8 inches long overall.
Referring now to FIG. 3, a round headed model 27 is also identical to the regular model except as follows: at one end 14 there is a circular loop 28 formed at the bend 20. Also this model is 3 feet and 6 inches in length overall.
In operative use, it is evident that each of the models of the pry bar and nail puller can be used to perform various prying actions and remove nails under various different conditions to obtain leverage so to pry.
While various changes may be made in the detail construction, it is to be understood that such changes will be within the spirit and scope of the present invention.
I claim:
1. A combination pray bar and nail puller comprising a straight central shaft having opposite ends of different design for nail pulling and bar praying purposes wherein one end includes nail puller flattened at its e es with a V-sha ed notch said one en be'n aligned at an obtuse angle to the shaft axis oi fsetting the nail puller laterally of the shaft, and wherein the opposite end comprises a U-shaped portion having a terminal member at right angles to the shaft and extending laterally beyond the shaft, said member including a nail puller extending generally in the direction of said one end the two said nail pullers having axiis arranged in a common plane passing through the shaft axis.
2. The combination as in claim 1 wherein the second said nail puller is set at an obtuse angle to the terminal member.
Claims (2)
1. A combination pray bar and nail puller comprising a straight central shaft having opposite ends of different design for nail pulling and bar praying purposes wherein one end includes nail puller flattened at its edges with a V-shaped notch, said one end being aligned at an obtuse angle to the shaft axis offsetting the nail puller laterally of the shaft, and wherein the opposite end compriSes a U-shaped portion having a terminal member at right angles to the shaft and extending laterally beyond the shaft, said member including a nail puller extending generally in the direction of said one end the two said nail pullers having axiis arranged in a common plane passing through the shaft axis.
2. The combination as in claim 1 wherein the second said nail puller is set at an obtuse angle to the terminal member.
