- The box top or bed structure preferably included a top l, sides 3 and bottom 4.

A leaf 5 of the top l of the bed structure, preferably adjacent one of the front corners thereof, is cut out to form a lid and is attached to the top 1 of the bed structure by means of hinges 6.

A skirt 7, adjacent the front edge ,of the cut out leaf section 5, depends therefrom and forms a front closure for the box top, and carries on its inner face a tablet 8 which extends from the lower marginal edge 7 of the skirt 7 to the rearmarginal edge 5 of the cut out leaf section 5 of the top 1 of the bed structure.

I claim is The cut out leaf 5, skirt 7 and tablet 8 thus form a triangular body which when folded back on the hinges 6 against the surfaceof the top 1 of the bed structure, presents a sloping bed or desk surface.

A bead 9 may be provided adjacent the nner marginal edge 8 of the tablet 8 to form a retaining means for books or other articles which may be carried thereby. 4

If desired knobs '10 may be provided on the outer front of the skirt whereby the triangular body may be Conveniently raised.

A drawer 11 may be provided in the bed structure, if desired.

The rear portion 12 of the bed structure ,65 is preferably open and hollow and isadapted for use as a storage space.

.I preferably construct the storage space 12 of suitable size to receive and contain a typewriting machine, but this storage space 12 may be Conveniently used for the storage of books and the like. i

WVhen it is desired to use a horizontal bed for writing and the like, the leaf 5 is closed and the device presents the appearance of a fiat top table or desk and is adapted for use as such.

When it is desired to use the device as a typewriter desk or for the support of reading matter or other material in an inclined or sloping plane, the leaf 5 is raised and folded over upon the top 1, whereby the tablet 8 will be exposed and carried in an inclined or sloping position for use as a bed therefor and at the same time the floor 4- of the bed structure will be exposed and cleared for use as a typewriter table being peculiarly adapted for that purpose by reason of the fact that its elevation is lower than that of the normal bed of the table as is desirable in typewriter tables, and where a typewriter is stored in the compartm-ent 12, it may be Conveniently drawn forward for use.

Having thus described my invention, what 1. In. a device of the character described the combination of a hollow bed structure having a horizontal bed, a cut out leaf hinged to said bed, a. skirt on saidleaf and a tablet extending between the lower marginal edge of said skirt and the cut out leaf to form a sloping bed When the leaf is raised.

2. A desh-table including in combinaton, a hollow bed section having a top and bottom and an open front, a cut out leaf hinged to the top, a tablet on the underside of the cut out ieaf and postoned in inclined relation thereto and adapted to form an inelned bed When the leaf is raised and a skrt carred by said` leaf and tablet and adapted to `close the open front of the bedsection.

3. A desh-table including in combnaton a hoHoW box-top comprisng a bottom, a top and an open front, a out out section of the top hinged at its rear edge to the said top, a skrt carried by the front edge of 'the said cut out section and depending therefrom and adapted to form a elosure for said open front o' the box-top, a tablet extendng from the lower edge of said skrt to the rear of the said cut out section, said top, skrt and tablet fonnng a trangular body adapted to support a book.
