Description

Dec. 31, 1929. s, ALTMAN JAPER CURRENCY HOLDER Fild Jan. 24, 1929 awuenio'c I 6 111 a 11 A Z 1711417 @51 2 s wow Patented Dec. 31 1 929 E STATES SIMON ALTMAN, or BRONX, new YORK PAPER-CUBRENGY HOLDER Application filed January 24, 1929. Serial No. 334,675.
This invention relates to a device "for protecting paper currency from becoming lost or stolen, and it is the principal object of my invention to provide a simple and therefore inexpensive device of this character which,
however, is durable and etlicient in operation.
Another object of my invention is the provision of a bill or currency holder which se- 1Q curely holds and protects the bills while allowing a ready removal of one or more of the bills for use. 7
A further object of my invention is the provision of a bill or paper currency holder,
adapted to be securely held within a containor as for instance a ladys hand bag by means of a chain or the like preventing the accidental loss of the currency upon the opening of the bag as it frequently happens, and also preventing pick-pockets from abstracting the money even it they have succeeded in surreptitiously opening the hand-bag as the tug at the device for removing bills therefrom will call the wearers attention to the intended theft.
These and other objectsand advantages of my device will become more fully known as the description thereof proceeds, and will then be more specifically defined in the ap- 3G pended claims.
In the accompanying drawing, forming a material part of this disclosure Fig. 1 illustrates a holder for paper currency constructed according to my invention.
Fig. 2 is a section on line 22 of Figure 1.
Fig. 3 is an elevation of a plate, forming part of the bill holder, Figure 1.
Fig. 4 illustrates the application and use or" my device in a ladys hand bag the material o1 which is partly broken away to show the interior arrangement.
As illustrated in Fi ures 1, 2, and 8, my device for holding together paper currency consists of a plate 10 preferably a metal plate having its ends for a short distance longitudinally and then transversely slotted, as at 11 and 12 respectively to formshoulders 18,
1.4 at each end.
Through thetransverse slots an endless rubber band 15 of suitable strength is drawn,
and the paper bills or currency 16 are drawn in the manner illustrated in Figure 1 and 2, and firmly held against plate 10 on both sides thereof by the rubber band. It will be clear that in this manner the bills will be securely held together protected against loss while they may readily be removed for use by drawing the same laterally from' between rubber band and holder.
; The plate 10 intermediate its ends and near one of its side edges is equipped with a hole 17 for a purpose hereafter to be more fully described. Y
As illustrated in Figure 4;, the. device can conveniently be used with a ladys hand bag 18 by attaching admin at one end in hole 17 and securing the other end at any convenient point within the hand bag, for instance at 20. Y
The operation of my device will be entire- 1y clear from the above description and simultaneous inspection 01 the drawing, and it will be evident that the bills placed upon both sides of plate 10 will be securely held by the rubber hand against the plate and cannot become accidentally lost, while they are always handy for use. This is also true if the device is used in a ladys hand-bag or the like in which case the plate is securely held with the bills thereon within the bag by a chain attached to the plate and to a convenient point in the hand bag, so that upon opening of the bag even if the bundle of bills falls out it cannot get lost or stolen by pick pockets without that the wearer becomes aware oi the attempt to surreptitiously abstract the bills.
While I have described and shown the preferred form of my device as one example of the many ways in which the same may be practically constructed, I may make such changes in its construction as come within the scope of the appended claims without departure from the spirit of the invention and the principle involved.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. Paper currency holder comprising a plate, shoulders formed at the ends of said plate by slotting its material longitudinally and transversely, and an elastic means held beneath said shoulders for pressing a plurality of bills firmly against said plate at both sides thereof to protect the same against loss and surreptitious removal while allowing a ready removal of a bill or bills for use.
2. Paper currency holder comprising a metal plate having a hole intermediate its ends, shoulders formed at the ends of said plate by slotting the material thereof, an
endless rubber band drawn through the slots in said plate to cover both sides thereof, allowing an introduction of bills between the rubber band and plate on both sides of the latter, to securely hold the bills together protected against loss while allowing a ready removal of same for use. 7
3. Paper currency holder comprising an elongated metal plate having a perforation intermediate its ends near one side thereof,
a palr of shoulders formed at each end of said plate by slotting the material, a rubber band passed around said plate and securely held in the slots thereof allowing the interposition of a sheaf of paper currency between rubber band and plate on both sides thereof and a chain having one of its ends secured in the perforation of said plate and the other to a container.
Signed at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York this 22nd day of January, A. D. 1929. p I
