The object of the invention is to provide a shipping container formed of rigid and strong units so interlocked when in use as to adequately support heavy goods. The device is particularly adapted for the transportation of heavy semi-fluid substances in Which case aremovable paper or other lining may be used for the container.
The invention will be understood by reference to the accompanying drawings in which Fig. 1 is a side elevation of the device;

Also, the device is so arranged as to provide a smooth inner surface free from projections or other obstructions.
Each side section of the device comprises the upper and lower frame members 1, 1 and the vertical connecting frame members 2. These members support the side panel 3, the panel being connected to the frame members by the fastenings 4. Any suitable fastenings, such as nails or screws, may be employed.
Each end section B comprises upper and lower horizontal frame members 5, 5" connected by the vertical frame members 6. These frame members support the end panel 7.
It will be seen that the side and end panels project at their tops and bottoms beyond the margins of the top and bottom frame members and that the panel of each end section also projects at its sides beyond the vertical frame members 6. Each frame member 6 is inwardly bevelled at 6 to correspond with the bevelled face 8 of the vertical locking bar 8 carried at each end of the side section. When the side and end sections are assembled, as shown in Figure line 7 7,
3, the bevelled face of each frame member 6 and its appropriate locking bar 8 will contact with each other and the projecting margins of panel 7 will contact with looking bar 8 on the face thereof opposite the bevel. In this position of the members, the sections are locked together against movement except that the side sections may be moved outwardly. The top and bottom sections of the device are employed to hold the side sections against outward movement and thus to lock the device in assembled position.
The top and bottom sections of the device may be alike in form. In the embodiment illustrated in the drawings, the top section comprises the side frame members 9 and the'connecting members 10, forming a rectangle which fits over upon the upwardly projecting margins of the side and end' panels 3, 7 thus locking them in position.

The bottom section, like the top section, comprises side frame members 14;, end frame member 15, panel 16 and a reinforcing frame comprising side members 17 and cross members 18.
It will be seen that in the embodiment of the invention herein illustrated and described, the panels which immediately support the goods placed in the container, are
protected by a rigid frame work. This frame work is doubly strong at the corners of the container and comprises members which, in co-action with the panels, serve to lock the sections of the device, in assembled position. It will be understood that when the device is only partially assembled in that the top is off during the packing of the container, suitable means may be employed for latching together the end and side sections. It will be also understood that, if desired, any suitable means may be employed for strapping or latching the device during shipment.
