This invention relates to' a razor blade holder for the purpose. of sharpening the blades, and" while it is applicable to any of the ordinary thin blade type razors, especially intended for use with the double edged razors, one portion of the holder acting as. a guard to prevent the blade from cutting the strap during the time one of the edgesis being sharpened.

Another object of the invention 1s to provide means whereby the blade may be turned over in order to sharpen the second edge without removing the blade from the holder. I r

A further object of the invention is to provide a holder to which the blade is easily secured to or disconnected therefrom when it has been sharpened. I

-An' embodiment'of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawings in which the same reference numeral is applied to the same portion throughout the several figures of the drawings and of which there may be modifications.

Figure 1 is a side elevation of the blade and holder as it appears ready for use,

The numeral 1 indicates a tubular handle which has a bar 2 extending therefrom at one end, said bar being bent over at to engage and secure a spring l at one end. The spring 1 is curved so that it assumes the position shown'in Figure 8 when not under stress. 1 Inside the. arms 7 and 8 are the notches 13 and 14-, the-object of which is to provide blade necessary when sharpening the other edge of the blade elther on a strap or on a none. This blade guard is also made of .such a width as-to provide the proper angle for the sharpening of the bladesecured in the holder, said blade being indicated at 15in Figure 1.

As was previously mentioned,the holder may be used in connection with the ordinary thin single edged blades with or without stiffener secured to one edge, or it may be used in conjunction with the common form of double edged safety razor blades, in which event itis onlynecessary to depressthe spring and .turn the guard-180 degrees to enable the user to sharpen the second edge.
