TES
JOSEPH S. ROSEN, 0F NEW YORK, N. Y.
LABEL HOLDER.
Application filed Februaryv 7, 1923. Serial No. 617,507.
To all 007mm t may concern.'
Be it known that I` JOSEPH S. ROSEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at S25 `West 179th Street, New York city, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Label I-Iolders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in label holders, more particularly, to that type of label or ticket holder in which a considerable variety of labels or tickets are contained.
A more particular object of this invention is the provision of a holder' for tickets indicating hat sizes so that said tickets areheld in a convenient and compact manner and the ticket or tag desired can be readily obtained without disturbing the remainder. Hitherto it has been the custom to hold the tickets indicating hat sizes loosely in boxes, picking from the particular box the size desired, but this practice has resulted in considerable waste of tickets and of time.
Further objects of the invention will be apparent from the drawings in which Fig. l represents a perspective view of my improved label or ticket holder.
Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional View along the line 2 2 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a sectional view along the line of Fig. 2.
Fig. 4 is an end elevation of one of the units holding a particular size ticket.
Fig. 5 is a horizontal section along the line 5 5 of Fig. l.
As clearly shown in Figs. 4 and 2, the particular label or size desired is printed on a continuous roll of paper 1 wound on a spool 2 and inserted in the holder 3 having an outlet at 4 as shown.
The roll 2 has a backing of adhesive upon the side opposite to that of the figures so that the label when torn off, vcan be immediately applied to the hat.
The separate holders' 3 are assembled in a larger carton 5 which enfolds the cartons entirely except for the opening 6, the tops of the cartons 4 also registering in this opening.
The end of the roll 2 may be fastened to the front of the carton 5 so that the front of the carton 5 need not be printed with the separate numbers as the end of the roll 7 bearing the ticket or number will designate sufficiently the contents of the roll. When the entire label holder is employed, the end of any roll 7 may be detached from the carton 5 and the appropriate number of tickets or labels torn off at the edge 8 of the carton 5.
In this embodiment I have shown a holder for hat sizes and have included in the drawing the complete list of hat sizes usually carried in stock by hat manufacturers, from 6?; to 7 Y It will be apparent that this variety of holder is adapted for holding tickets, labels or tags applicable to other commodities than hats.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I c aim is:
In a label holder, a series of rolls, each roll being marked throughout its length with one size and being' gummed on the rear surface thereof, said rolls being held in a series of upright cartons, there being an opening in each carton to permit the detachment of any part of said rolls, a carton for holding said series of rolls and having an opening registering with the Ventire series of openings in the containers for the individual rolls, the Walls of the inner cartons practically closing the opening in the outer carton.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature.
JOSEPH S. ROSEN.
