Description

e. NAKAMURAL AMUSEMENT DEVICE.
' APPLICATION FILED JUNE 14 L917.

ATNT OFFICE.
GOKEN NAKAMURA, OEKOBE, JAPAN.
AMUSEMENT DEVICE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 1, 1920.
Application filed June 14, 1917. Serial No. 174,786.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GOKEN ,NAKAMURA, a subject of the Emperor of Japan, and resident of Kobe, Island of Hondo, Japan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Amusement Devices, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in amusement devices, and the primary object of the invention is to provide an amusement device which is associated with a plurality of beverage holding receptacles, and which includes indicia that is disposed in the bottom of each receptacle, that is normally covered by the beverage, and is only visible when the beverage is withdrawn, thereby furnishing amusement to'the partakers, and allowing games to be played by the utilization of the various indicias.
Another object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which is easily and simply constructed, inexpensive to manufacture, and one which will be very amusing and efiicient in operation.
lVith these and numerous other objects in view, my invention consists of the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts, which will be herein referred to and more particularly'pointed out in the specification and claim.
In the accompanying drawing:
Figures 1 and 2 present plan views of a pair of the receptacles, illustrating the indicia disposed in the bottoms thereof.
Fig. 3 is a plan view of the saucer.
In describing my invention I shall refer to the drawing in which similar reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views. The numeral 1 designates a receptacle, comprising in the present illustration a tea or coffee cup which is provided with the usual handle 2, and which has a flat bottom inner surface 3. A plurality of these beverage holding receptacles are provided, preferably a set of ten or twelve, and the indicia 4 that are positioned on the inner surface of the bottoms of said receptacles include numerals 5, ranging from one to ten, or twelve according to the number of receptacles used.
The indicia 4: also include adjacent the numerals printed matter of some type, preferably fortune telling phrases 6, while disposed beneath the same is advertising matter 7. It will beunderstood that each of the receptacles contains a different phrase,
while various kinds of advertising may be receptacle. Owing to the fact that the fortune telling phrases are disposed on the bottom thereof this forms a very amusing game, which will interest the users, and which will also draw their attention to the advertising matter. The use of a plurality of numerals for each set of these receptacles allows various games to be played thereby. for instance the awarding of rizes to the user of a receptacle that 1s designated by a certain numeral.
From the foregoing description the use and operation of my new and improved amusment device will be easily understood, and it will be seen that I have provided a simple and efficient means for carrying out the objects of this invention.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
The combination with a plurality of cups having advertising matter and amusing phrases on the upper surface of the bottom and different numerals associated with such phrases and adapted to be hidden by the contents of the cups, of a plurality of saucers for the cups having advertising matter and amusing phrases associated with numerals thereon similar to those on the bottom of the saucers whereby to rivet the attention of persons playing games therewith to increase the effectiveness of the advertising matter.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature hereto.
GOKEN NAKAMURA.
