prevented from passing out with the liquor into the receiving container.-
. Afurther object of the present invention is the provision of a filter composed primarily of three sections, the upper section being provided with the bung engaging spout, while the intermediate section carries a filtering bag, retained in place by a perforated plate, the lower section being provided with a lower perforated plate which retains within the'lower conical end a of the third member a second filtering material, there being provided an outlet spout at the outlet of the last named member of the filter.
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed can be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the drawingsFigure 1 is a view in elevation showing the present invention applied to a key or barrel. F ig; 2 is a vertical central sectional view through the com plete filter.
Referring to the drawings, the numeral 1' designates a threaded tubular connection carrying the shouldered nut 2 whereby the upper threaded end is connected Within the bung hole of the barrel B. The lower end of this connection is soldered orotherwise connected to the upperreduced end of the cone shaped memberfi, which is provided with the cylindrical flange orrim 4 for telescopic connection with the upper end of a cylindrical shell member 5. This shell member 5 is reinforced upon the interior thereof by means of a plurality of metal bands or rings 6, which aresoldered or othis provided with erwise connected to the inner walls thereof adjacent to the circumferential depressions 10. By this means the same is readily connected and disconnected to the upper member and to the lower outlet funnel shaped member 7 The lower outlet funnel shaped member is provided with the cylindrical rim or flange 8, which is disposed to engage or telescope the lower end of the cylindrical member and this outlet end is provided with the spout 9 so that the liquor entering the filter from the barrel may be dispensed therethrough. The central cylindrical member, as shown, a plurality of outwardly extending circumferential depressions 10, the upper one of which is adapted to receive the upper ring 6, the periphery of the perforated disk 11 resting thereon and also bearing against the adjacent portion of the cylindrical member to clamp and retain in place the upper open end of the filtering bag 12. The'filtering bag 12 is of such a length as to normally extend the full length of the cylindrical member.
The perforated disk 13 snaps into a small peripheral groove 14 and retains the filtering material 15 therebelow and within the outlet member 7 of the filter.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the drawings it is evident that charcoal and other particles which enter the upper end of the filter are held against entering the bag by means of the retaining disk thereof and that the liquor before entering the lower member of the filter is properly strained and the fine-r particles retained within the bag.
By making the connection telescopic, as shown, the various members may be separated to renew and clean the bag and the lower filtering material, and by providing the shouldered portion 2 of the spout 1, it is evident that the filter may be readily connected and disconnected from the bung hole .of the barrel when desired.
l/Vhat is claimed is: v
A filter, including an inverted funnel shaped member, the reduced end of which is threaded for engagement with the bung of a barrel, a cylindrical member detachably connected to the enlarged end of the funnel shaped member, said cylindrical member be ing provided with a circumferential depression near the upper end thereof, a ring disposed in the cylindrical member adjacent the depression thereof, a filtering bag mounted within the cylindrical member and having its open end adjacent the upper end of the cylindrical member and said ring, a-
perforated screening disk engaging the open end of th bag to clamp the same upon the ring and its adjacent portion of the cylindrical member, and an outlet member detachably connected to the opposite end of the cylindrical member.
2. A filter, includingran inverted funnel shaped member, the reduced end of which is threaded for engagement withthe bung of a barrel, a cylindrical member detachadjacent the depression thereof, a filtering 7 bag mounted within the cylindrical member and having its open edge adjacent the upper the cylindrical member, detachably connected to the lower end of end of the cylindrical member and said ring, a perforated screening disk engaging the open end of the bag to clamp-the same upon thering and the adjacent portion of the cylindrical member and having "a circumferential depression, a filtering material disposed below the depression, and a filtering material securing and screening the disk having its periphery disposed in the circumferential depression of the outlet member V D 35 formaintaining the filtering material 1n said outlet member.
