Be it known that I, LoUIs J. SGHEINMAN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the borough of Manhattan, city, county,

' and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Knickerbockers, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to knickerbockers or knee breeches and has for its object to improve the construction thereof and to provide a simple and easily operated means for securing the lower ends of the leg portions about the legs of the wearer, which means yielding, is readily adjustable and of great durability and at the same time is cheap and easy to apply to the knickerbockers.

My invention will be fully described hereinafter and the features of novelty will be pointed out in the appended .claims.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings in which Figure 1 is an elevation of the lower end of a. leg portion of a pair of knickerbockers with my invention applied thereto; Fig. 2 is,

My improvement comprises a band composed of two sections 1 and 2 of-tap, or other suitable material arranged face to face and secured together along their opposlte edges by stitching 3 to form a tubular tape or band as clearly shown in Figs. 2 and 3. a The section 1 is somewhat longer than the section 2 so that its ends overlap and are turned back on and secured to the section 2, the one end 4 being formed into a loop in which a metallic or other'stifi'ening sleeve of similar device 5 is located. A hook 6 is secured to a preferably elastic band 7 which has its ends securely fastened in the sleeve 5 in any suitable manner as for instance by means of prongs 8' as shown best in- Fig. 5. A series of ap'ertures'preferably reinforced by means of eyelets 9 areformed in the section 1 of the tubular tape and are adapted to receive the hook 6 to adjustably secure the tubular band or tape formed of the sections 1 and 2 about the leg of the wearer. These eyelets 6 freely engage the band 7 so as to be readily slidable thereon as is shown best in Fig. 2.

I claim:

.1:An improvement in knickerbockers comprising a tubular tape depending from the lower ends of the leg portions thereof, a stiffening devioesecured at the one end of said tape and extending transversely there of, an elastic band secured to said Stifiening device and a hook secured to one end of said elastic band, said tape being provided With a series" of reinforced apertures located at spaced intervals from its other end into which said hook is adapted to be inserted to secure the tape about the legs of the wearer.

An improvement in kniokerhockers comprising a tape formed of a front and rear secured face to face to form a tubular structure depending from the ends ofthe le s of the lmickerbockers and provided with apertures in the front section loeated at spaced intervals from the one end thereof,- eyelet-s in said apertures, said rear section forming a backing for and covering the inner ends of said eyelets, an elastic band secured to the other end of said tape and a hook secured to said elastic band and adapted for insertioninto said eyelets to adjust the tape about the legsoi the wearer.
