Abstract
In a device for input of broken-down material such as wood chips, the material is transported via a feed-in chamber (1) with the aid of a reciprocating screw piston (2) to a collection container under pressure. Under the effect of the screw piston, material plugs are formed in the feed-in chamber in sequence one after the other. - Each material plug is fed forward by the screw piston to a throttle position after the feed-in chamber (1), whereby a piston slide (8) engages in a cross direction against the material plug and further compresses it in its cross direction, maintaining it in the compression position, and sealing against excess pressure from the collection container until a subsequent material plug is fed forward adjacent to the first. The piston slide is then withdrawn, and the following material plug is fed forward by the screw piston to the throttle position for engagement of the piston slide.
