1527877 Magnesium-silver alloy; heattreatment MAGNESIUM ELEKTRON Ltd 15 Dec 1976 [17 Dec 1975] 51612/75 Heading C7A An alloy contains in wt. % Mg < 88 Ag 1À6 - 3À5 R.E. 0À1 - 2À3 Th 0 - 2À3 Y 0À1 - 2À5 Zn 0 - 0À5 Cd 0 - 1 Li 0 - 6 Ca 0 - 0À8 Ga 0 - 2 In 0 - 2 T1 0 - 5 Pb 0 - 1 Bi 0 - 1 Cu 0 - 0À15 Zr 0 - 1 Mn 0 - 2 The rare earth metals contain # 60% Nd, and preferably # 15% La and Ce, while the maximum contents of Mn and Zr are limited by their mutual solubility. R.E. metals and Th together do not exceed 3%, and when # 0À5% Y is present the minimum Th is defined as The alloy may be solution treated between 485‹C and the solidus, quenched and aged at 100 - 275‹C; when it contains >0À1% Cu it should be given a preliminary solution treatment at > 485‹C.
