Claims (20)
- a) 적어도 하나가 투명한 상부 전극판과 하부 전극판; 및b) 상기 2 개의 전극들 사이에 봉입된 복수의 셀을 구비하는 전기영동 디스플레이로서,상기 복수의 셀 각각은,(ⅰ) 둘러싸고 있는 격벽들,(ⅱ) 내부에 채워진 전기영동 조성물, 및(ⅲ) 상기 각 셀 내부의 상기 전기영동 조성물을 봉입하기 위해 상기 전기영동 조성물보다 비중이 낮은 밀봉 조성물로 형성되고 상기 격벽들의 표면에 부착되어 밀봉하는 폴리머 밀봉층을 구비하는 것을 특징으로 전기영동 디스플레이.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 셀들은 크기 및 형태 면에서 거의 균일한 것을 특징으로 하는 전기영동 디스플레이.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 셀들은 다른 크기 및 형태로 이루어지는 것을 특징으로 하는 전기영동 디스플레이.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 셀들은 구형이 아닌 것을 특징으로 하는 전기영동 디스플레이.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 셀들은 원형, 다각형, 육각형, 직사각형 또는 정사각형의 개구를 갖는 마이크로컵들로 형성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 전기영동 디스플레이.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 셀들은 102내지 5 ×105㎛2범위의 개구 면적을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 전기영동 디스플레이.
- 제 6 항에 있어서,상기 셀들은 103내지 5 ×104㎛2범위의 개구 면적을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 전기영동 디스플레이.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 셀들은 3 내지 100 ㎛ 범위의 깊이를 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 전기영동 디스플레이.
- 제 8 항에 있어서,상기 셀들은 10 내지 50 ㎛ 범위의 깊이를 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 전기영동 디스플레이.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 셀들은 개구에 대한 벽의 비가 0.05 내지 100 의 범위인 마이크로컵들로 형성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 전기영동 디스플레이
- 제 10 항에 있어서,상기 셀들은 개구에 대한 벽의 비가 0.4 내지 20 의 범위인 마이크로컵들로 형성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 전기영동 디스플레이.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 전기영동 조성물은 착색된 유전 용매 또는 용매 혼합물에 분산시킨 하전 백색 입자들을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 전기영동 디스플레이.
- 제 12 항에 있어서,상기 유전 용매 또는 용매 혼합물은 염료 또는 안료에 의해 착색되는 것을 특징으로 하는 전기영동 디스플레이.
- 제 13 항에 있어서,상기 염료 또는 색 안료는 하전되지 않거나 상기 백색 안료 입자들과 다른 전하 극성을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 전기영동 디스플레이.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 밀봉 조성물은 UV 경화성 조성물인 것을 특징으로 하는 전기영동 디스플레이.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 밀봉 조성물은 열가소성 재료, 열경화성 재료 또는 그들의 전구체를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 전기영동 디스플레이.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 밀봉 조성물은 다원자가 아크릴레이트 또는 메타크릴레이트, 시아노아크릴레이트, 다원자가 비닐, 다원자가 에폭시드, 다원자가 이소시아네이트, 다원자가 알릴, 가교결합성 관능기를 함유하는 올리고머 또는 폴리머로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 재료를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 전기영동 디스플레이.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 밀봉 조성물은 상기 전기영동 조성물과 공존하지 않거나 섞이지 않는유기 용매 내에 용해되거나 분산되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 전기영동 디스플레이.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 전기영동 조성물은 상기 셀들 각각에 부분적으로 채워져 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 전기영동 디스플레이.
- 제 19 항에 있어서,상기 부분적으로 채워진 전기영동 유체는 상기 폴리머 밀봉층과 접촉하는 것을 특징으로 하는 전기영동 디스플레이.
