Abstract

복잡한 요금 구조를 가지고 있는 멀티 조운(multi zone) 통신망에서 동작되는 이동전화(30)의 청구 패러미터들을 계정하기 위해서, 실시간 호 데비팅(call debiting)을 수행하는 내부 계정 기능을 가지고 있는 이동 전화를 포함하는 이동 전화 시스템(10). 상기 이동 전화는 계정 프로그램과 가 호에 대한 호 데이터를 저장하기 위해서, 억세스 가능한 내부 메모리가 있는 내부 프로세서를 가지고 있다. 계정 프로그램은 장거리 호출, 국제 통화와 같은 복잡한 청구 알고리즘과 갱신 가능한 요금표와 분과/또는 날마다 발생하는 로밍에 대한 요금 데이터를 가지고 있다. 이때, 이동 전화의 계정상태는 데빗 계정을 감소시키기 위해서 실시간 형식으로 계산된다. 이동 데빗 전화는 사용자에게 계정 상태를 알려주기 위한 신호를 가지고 있다. 이동전화 시스템은 새로운 전화기를 구동시키고, 프로그래밍하고, 항공로에 설치된 전화기내에 있는 요금표상의 계정 상태를 갱신시키기 위한 통신 시스템을 포함하고 있다.

Description

내부 계정을 갖는 이동 전화
이동 전화 계정 프로토콜은, 서비스 제공자와의 교신량이 최소화되어 각 이동 전화 유닛의 계정 절차를 실행하여 서비스 제공자의 통화량 조정 능력이 확장된 이동 데빗 전화(mobil debit phone)에 적합한다. 상기 이동 전화 계정 프로토콜은, 본원에 참고 자료로 포함된 미국 특허 제5,325,418호에 기술된 것과 비슷하다. 상기 참고 자료의 특허에서, 계정 시스템은, 전화 요금의 주기적 계산이 공공 서비스 제공자 또는 교환 서비스 제공자로부터의 청구서 수신 전에 이루어지는 내부 협력 시스템(intra-corporate system)과 같은, 특정 응용을 갖는 임대 전화 시스템(rental phone system)이나 관리 전화 시스템(controlled phone system)으로 기술되어 있다. 상기 시스템에서, 전화 통화 데이터는 이동 전화 유닛에 기억되고, 요금은 중앙 프로세서와 전화기 유닛간의 다이얼로그(dialogue)가 정해진 후 중앙 프로세서에 의해 계산된다. 상기 시스템은, 중앙 프로세서와 이동 전화 유닛간에 통신 링크가 이루어질 필요가 있으며, 전화기 유닛이 물리적으로 상기 중앙 프로세서에 접속될 필요가 있다.
비록, 무선 전화기용 내부 데빗 메모리와 크레딧 메모리를 갖는 데빗 시스템이, 이미 제안되었지만, 상기 시스템은, 여러 서비스 제공자가 하나의 통신 네트워크에 포함되어 있고, 이동 전화가, 특정 서비스 영역 내에서 소정의 지역(zone)이나 셀을 이동(move)하거나 로밍(roaming)될 수 있고, 다중 서비스 영역을 교차할 수 있는, 특히 복잡한 이동 전화 시스템에는 적합하지 못하다. 상기 경우, 통화하는 이동 전화의 위치는, 통화중인 전화나 스테이션 위치로서 요금 계산을 위해 중요하다. 이러한 부가된 복잡성은, 이동 전화의 요금 절차를 복잡하게 하고, 원격 데빗 시스템용 통신 세션(communication session)을 증가시켜, 공중 통화량(airway traffic)을 부가시킨다.
내부 계정 능력을 갖는 이동 전화는, 각 통화에 대한 서비스 제공자의 계정세션을 소거할 뿐 아니라, 독립 채산 데빗 계정(pay-as-you-go debit account)을 이용하여 부적절한 신용도를 갖는 사람에게 이동 전화 서비스를 받게하여, 잠재적 소비자 기본 요금(potential customer base)을 인상시킨다. 이 경우, 서비스 및 통화 요금을 선불하여 크레딧 위험(credit risk)을 줄이고, 크레딧이 확장되어, 이동 전환 이용자용 크레딧 또는 선불 계정을 제공하는 전화기 판매자 또는 요금 서비스 등에 의한, 서비스 제공자 외에 의한 크레딧 제공이 가능하다.
본 발명의 이동 전화 유닛은, 참고 자료인 특허 제5,325,418호에 기술된 이동 전화 대여 시스템과 같이 이용될 수 있다. 이동 전화 유닛 자체가 계정 능력을 갖고 있기 때문에, 상기 대여 시스템이 크게 확장될 수 있고, 복귀 스테이션(return station)이 최소의 시스템 하드웨더를 갖고, 계정을 소거하고 요금을 징수하고, 픽업을 위해 복귀한 전화를 기억하거나 초기 스테이션으로 복귀하는데 필요한 기초 장비만을 필요로 한다. 상기 이동 전화 유닛 자체가 통화 요금을 계산하고, 상기 복귀 스테이션에서 검토(review)를 위한 누적된 계정 기록을 제공한다. 본 발명의 이동 전화 시스템은, 아날로그나 디지털 셀룰라 전화와, 개인 휴대 통신(PCS) 네트워크와, 통화중 통화 계정이 완료되는 것이 바람직한 다른 무선 통신 시스템에 적합하다.
본 발명은 이동 전화용 이동 전화 계정 프로토콜(mobile telephone accounting protocol)을 갖는 이동 전화 시스템에 관한 것으로서, 특히, 통신 네트워크 내에서 하나의 전송 스테이션에서 다른 스테이션으로 이동할 수 있는 셀룰러 전화 및 무선 전화에 관련된다.

본 발명에 따른 내부 계정을 갖는 이동 전화를 갖는 이동 전화 시스템은, 이동 통신 장치를 갖는 무선 통신 시스템에 관련되고, 특히, 무선 통신 네트워크의 일부인 이동 전화에 특히 관련된다. 특히, 본 발명은, 통화중 통화 요금의 내부 계산을 위한 내부 계정 프로토콜을 갖는 이동 전화 유닛과 같은, 이동 통신 장치에 관련된다. 상기 이동 전화 유닛은, 통상 셀룰러 전화 네트워크의 셀룰러 전화나, 개인 통신 서비스 네트워크의 무선 전화나, 통신 장치가 장소에 따라 이동할 수 있고, 실시간 또는 통화중에 통화 요금을 계산하는 복잡한 계정 시스템을 필요로 하는 통신 시스템이다.
비록, 본 발명의 이동 전화 시스템의 기본 용도는, 전화 요금의 실시간 계산이, 전화 이용을 제한하거나, 공중 교환 서비스 제공자 및 복잡한 무선 서비스 제공자의 청구가 아직 불가능하여 전화 사용에 대해 즉시 청구할 필요가 있는, 이동 데빗 전화 유닛용이다.
이동 전화 유닛 내에서 내부적으로 실행되는 실시간 계정 시스템은 잠재적 소비자 기본 요금(potential customer base)을 크게 인상시켜, 상기 유닛 및 그와 결합된 일정 작동(activation) 및 억제(deactivation) 특징은 새로운 산업 분야가 이동 통신 산업에 포함될 수 있도록 한다. 크레딧 신뢰도(credit responsibility)가 서비스 제공자, 소매상, 청구 서비스, 및 중재 호스트로부터 변경될 수 있기 때문에, 본체(entities)는 전화 이용자와 서비스 제공자간에 집적될 수 있다. 또한, 서비스 제공자는, 크레딧이 양호하거나, 공중 작동 및 크레딧 전송 절차가 상기 이동 전화 시스템의 일부를 형성하여 크레딧이 확장되지 못한 경우, 전화 유닛을 억제하는 선승인 크레딧 제한을 갖는 고객이나, 선불 전화 크레딧을 가진 고객에게, 이동 데빗 전화를 제공하여 고객 기본 요금을 확장할 수 있다. 상기 방법에서, 크레딧상 위험성은 수용가능한 선정된 수준으로 제한된다.

내부 계정을 갖는 이동 전화 유닛은, 네트워크의 실질적인 수정없이 무선 통신 네트워크로 실행될 수 있고, 주로 장치의 재프로그래밍의 최소 수정을 통해 이동 통신 장치를 실행할 수 있다.

채널 방송 통신은, 프로세서(56)와 이어폰 출력(70)과 마이크 입력(72)을 갖는 오디오 회로(68)에 접속된 RF 트랜시버에 접속된 안테나(36)를 통해 제공된다.

통상, 셀룰러 전화에서 종종 통화 번호의 저장 등의 제조자의 스톡 전화 유닛의 일정 특징을 대체하여, RAM이 복잡한 청구 알고리즘 및 셀룰러 전화를 실시간 청구 전화로 변환시키는데 필요한 명령 셋을 수용하기에 충분히 크다. 존재하는 RAM이 부적절한 경우, 부가적인 RAM 또는 ROM의 장착에 의한 수정이, 변환 코드 및 데이터의 통합을 가능케한다. 예를들어, 새로이 고안된 전화에서, 상기 복잡한 청구 알고리즘 및 많은 명령 셋의 일부에 포함된 새로운 보조 펌웨어가, 요금표 및 RAM에 할당된 통화 로그 등의 가변 데이터로, ROM에 적절히 할당될 수 있다. 또한, 모든 무선 보조 펌웨어 및 가변 데이터는 존재하는 RAM 또는 부가된 RAM에 할당될 수 있다.
전화 유닛(30)은, 각각의 전화에 대해, 제조시 부여받은 고유의 일정 ESN(electronic serial number)를 갖는다. 기능을 갖추기 위해, 상기 전화 유닛은 프로그래밍되고, 이는 미국 특허 제5,325,418호에 기술된 바와 같이 개별적으로 실행되거나, 상기 참고 출원에 기술된 배치 모드에서 실행된다. 현재의 ESN 및 GIM(group identification mark)이 판독되어 저장되고 NAM(number assigned module)이 실행되고, MIN(mobile identification mark), SID(site identification number) 및 다른 변수들이 할당되어 일반적 사용을 위해 전화 유닛을 작동시킨다.
만약, 단계 프로그래밍이 실행되어 유용한 MIN의 작업 재고를 보존하면, 상기 MIN이 상기 유닛에 대해 할당된 전화 번호이고, 할당된 최종 번호 중 하나이다. 단계 프로그래밍은 전화의 배치가 프로그래밍되고 SID에 의해 식별된 서비스 제공자에 할당된 경우가 바람직하고, 그후 서비스 제공자의 위치에서 고객에 전화를 양도한다.
통상, 전화가 중앙 처리 장치(14)의 인터링크 수신기(28) 내 또는 중앙 처리 장치에 접속된 원격 단자에 전화 유닛을 장착하여 프로그래밍된다. 전화 유닛(30)은 이하 본원에서 설명하는 DTMF 신호를 통해 전화 유닛의 페이징 능력을 이용하여 공중에서 작동되거나, 프로그래밍될 수 있다. 이 특징에 따라 전화 포트 커넥터의 중앙 처리 장치(14)와의 직접 접속의 필요성 없이 전송 스테이션을 통해 채널 방송상의 전화의 원격 프로그래밍이 가능하다.

Claims (18)

  1. 이동 전화 시스템 제공자에 의한 이동 전화 유닛의 원격 조작 및 프로그래밍 방법에 있어서,
    a) 상기 시스템 제공자와, 전화 유닛을 시스템 제공자에 접속시키는 적어도 하나의 이산 전화 통화의 전송을 가능하게 하도록 프로그램된 새로운 이동 전화 유닛 사이에 통신 링크를 개설하는 단계와,
    b) 음성 통신으로부터 페이징 모드로 상기 이동 전화를 스위칭하는 단계와,
    c) 상기 시스템 제공자의 호스트 처리기를 상기 전화 유닛에 접속시키는 단계와,
    d) 페이징 모드에서 상기 시스템 제공자의 호스트 처리기로부터 상기 전화 유닛으로 이송된 DTMF 신호를 사용하는 NAM 패러미터에 의해 상기 전화 유닛을 프로그래밍하는 단계 및,
    e) 사용을 위해 상기 이동 전화 유닛을 조작하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 이동 전화 유닛의 원격 조작 및 프로그래밍 방법.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 전화 유닛은 시스템 제공자의 전화 번호에 의해 프로그램되고, 상기 이산 전화 통화는 상기 전화 유닛을 상기 시스템 제공자와 직접 접속시키는 것을 특징으로 하는 이동 전화 유닛의 원격 조작 및 프로그래밍 방법.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 전화 유닛은 RF 송수신기를 가지며, 상기 통신 링크는 상기 전화 유닛의 RF 송수신기를 통해 개설되는 것을 특징으로 하는 이동 전화 유닛의 원격 조작 및 프로그래밍 방법.
  4. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 전화 유닛을 NAM 패러미텅 의해 프로그래밍하는 단계는, 상기 전화 유닛을 상기 호스트 처리기에 의한 계정 및 트랙킹 프로토콜의 통신을 위한 명령 세트의 코드에 의해 프로그래밍하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 이동 전화 유닛의 원격 조작 및 프로그래밍 방법.
  5. 제4항에 있어서, 상기 계정 및 트랙킹 프로토콜은 상기 전화 유닛에서 통화료의 실시간 계정을 위한 프로그램 수단을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 이동 전화 유닛의 원격 조작 및 프로그래밍 방법.
  6. 제5항에 있어서, 상기 프로그램 수단은 다중 요소를 사용하여 상기 전화의 요금을 계산하는 복잡한 청구 알고리즘을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 이동 전화 유닛의 원격 조작 및 프로그래밍 방법.
  7. 제6항에 있어서, 상기 프로그램 수단은 상기 전화 유닛에 보유된 요금표를 포함하여 현재의 요금을 계산하는 것을 특징으로 하는 이동 전화 유닛의 원격 조작 및 프로그래밍 방법.
  8. 제7항에 있어서, 상기 프로그램 수단은, 포스트 컴퓨터와 통신하고 갱신된 요금표를 상기 호스트 처리기에서 상기 전화 유닛으로 전송하는 수단을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 이동 전화 유닛의 원격 조작 및 프로그래밍 방법.
  9. 제5항에 있어서, 상기 전화 유닛은, 데빗 계정을 기억하고 실시간 통화료에 의해 상기 데빗 계정을 감량하는 것을 특징으로 하는 이동 전화 유닛의 원격 조작 및 프로그래밍 방법.
  10. 제9항에 있어서, 상기 전화 유닛은 상기 데빗 계정의 현재의 계정 잔액을 디스플레이 하는 디스플레이 및 회로 수단을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 이동 전화 유닛의 원격 조작 및 프로그래밍 방법.
  11. 호스트 처리기 유닛을 갖는 시스템 제공자와, 적어도 하나의 이동 전화 유닛을 각각 갖는 다수의 시스템 사용자를 포함하는 이동 전화 시스템에 있어서,
    상기 호스트 처리기 유닛은 각각의 이동 전화 유닛과 선택적으로 통신 링크를 개설하는 수단을 가지고,
    각각의 전화 유닛은, 처리기, 상기 처리기와 관련된 메모리, 통화가 이루어질때 내부적으로 통화료를 계산하여 통화료를 메모리 기록 데이터로서 기억하기 위한 복잡한 청구 알고리즘 및 요금 데이터를 포함하는 프로그램 수단 및, 통화료의 기록 데이터를 상기 호스트 처리기에 통신하는 통신수단을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 이동 전화 시스템.
  12. 제11항에 있어서, 상기 프로그램 수단은 상기 전화 유닛에 데빗 계정을 발생시키는 수단 및 상기 데빗 계정을 실시간 감량시키는 수단을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 이동 전화 시스템.
  13. 제12항에 있어서, 상기 전화 유닛은 시각적 디스플레이를 포함하고, 상기 프로그램 수단은 상기 시각적 디스플레이에 현재의 데빗 계정 상태의 시각적 디스플레이를 제공하는 것을 특징으로 하는 이동 전화 시스템.
  14. 제12항에 있어서, 상기 호스트 처리기 유닛은 상기 통신 유닛과의 통신 링크 개설중에 상기 전화 유닛의 데빗 계정량을 증가시키는 프로그램 수단을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 이동 전화 시스템.
  15. 제14항에 있어서, 상기 이동 전화 유닛은 RF 송수신기를 가지며, 상기 통신 링크는 RF 신호에 의한 채널 방송을 통해 개설되는 것을 특징으로 하는 이동 전화 시스템.
  16. 제12항에 있어서, 상기 전화 유닛은 상기 데빗 계정이 전부 소비되었을때 상기 전화 유닛을 작동억제시키는 제어 수단을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 이동 전화 시스템.
  17. 제16항에 있어서, 상기 전화 유닛은 작동억제될때 상기 호스트 처리기 유닛과 통신 링크를 개설하는 페이징 수단을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 이동 전화 시스템.
  18. 제12항에 있어서, 상기 전화 시스템은 트랜잭션 스테이션을 포함하며, 상기 전화 유닛은, 상기 트랜잭션 스테이션과 통신 링크를 개설하고 상기 전화 유닛의 데빗 계정량을 증가시키는 수단을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 이동 전화 시스템.
