Abstract
Description
Claims (13)
- 한 쌍의 기판 사이에 액정층을 유지하여 이루어지고, 1개의 도트 영역내에 투과 표시를 행하는 투과 표시 영역과 반사 표시를 행하는 반사 표시 영역이 마련된 액정 표시 장치로서,상기 액정층은, 수직 배향 모드인 유전 이방성 부(負)의 액정으로 이루어지고, 상기 한 쌍의 기판의 액정층과 다른 쪽에는, 해당 액정층에 원편광을 입사시키기 위한 원편광판이 배치되어 있고,상기 원편광판은 위상차판을 포함하며,상기 위상차판은, 해당 위상차판의 평면내에서 서로 직교하는 방위각 방향의 굴절율을 nx, ny라고 하고, 두께 방향의 굴절율을 nz라고 하고, Nz=(nx-nz)/(nx-ny)로 정의한 경우에, Nz<1을 만족시키고,상기 액정층과 상기 원편광판의 사이에, 막 두께 방향으로 광축을 갖는 C플레이트로 이루어지는 시각 보상판이 마련되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 삭제
- 한 쌍의 기판 사이에 액정층을 유지하여 이루어지고, 하나의 도트 영역내에 투과 표시를 행하는 투과 표시 영역과 반사 표시를 행하는 반사 표시 영역이 마련된 액정 표시 장치로서,상기 액정층은, 수직 배향 모드인 유전 이방성 부(負)의 액정으로 이루어지고, 상기 한 쌍의 기판의 액정층과 다른 쪽에는, 해당 액정층에 원편광을 입사시키기 위한 원편광판이 배치되어 있고,상기 원편광판은 위상차판을 포함하며,상기 위상차판은 해당 위상차판의 평면내에서 서로 직교하는 방위각 방향의 굴절율을 nx, ny라고 하고, 두께 방향의 굴절율을 nz라고 하고, Nz=(nx-nz)/(nx-ny)로 정의한 경우에, Nz=1을 만족시키고,상기 액정층과 상기 원편광판 사이에, 막 두께 방향으로 광축을 갖는 C플레이트로 이루어지는 시각 보상판이 마련되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 삭제
- 제 1 항 또는 제 3 항에 있어서,상기 원편광판은, 편광판과 λ/4 위상차판의 조합으로 구성되고, 해당 λ/4 위상차판이 상기 Nz의 조건을 만족하고, 또한, 그 파장 분산이 역분산 특성을 나타내는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항 또는 제 3 항에 있어서,상기 원편광판은, 편광판과 λ/4 위상차판의 조합으로 구성되고, 해당 λ/4 위상차판이 상기 Nz의 조건을 만족하고, 또한, 해당 λ/4 위상차판의 광축과, 상기 편광판의 편광축이 45°의 각도를 이루는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항 또는 제 3 항에 있어서,상기 원편광판은, 편광판과 λ/4 위상차판의 조합으로 구성되고, 해당 λ/4 위상차판이 상기 Nz의 조건을 만족하고, 또한, 상기 한 쌍의 기판중 한쪽에 마련된 제 1 편광판의 편광축과, 다른쪽에 마련된 제 2 편광판의 편광축이 직교하며, 또한 한 쌍의 기판중 한쪽에 마련된 제 1의 λ/4 위상차판의 지상축(遲相軸 ; slow axis)(또는 진상축(進相軸 ; fast axis))과, 다른쪽에 마련된 제 2의 λ/4 위상차판의 지상축(또는 진상축)이 직교하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항 또는 제 3 항에 있어서,상기 원편광판은, 편광판과 λ/2 위상차판과 λ/4 위상차판을 포함하여 구성되고, 해당 λ/2 위상차판과 λ/4 위상차판이 상기 Nz의 조건을 만족하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 8 항에 있어서,상기 λ/2 위상차판의 광축이 상기 편광판의 편광축과 15°의 각도를 이루고, 상기 λ/4 위상차판의 광축이 상기 편광판의 편광축과 75°의 각도를 이루는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 8 항에 있어서,상기 λ/2 위상차판의 광축이 상기 편광판의 편광축과 17.5°의 각도를 이루고, 상기 λ/4 위상차판의 광축이 상기 편광판의 편광축과 80°의 각도를 이루는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 9 항 또는 제 10 항에 있어서,상기 한 쌍의 기판 중 한쪽에 마련된 제 1 편광판의 편광축과, 다른쪽에 마련된 제 2 편광판의 편광축이 직교하고, 또한 한 쌍의 기판 중 한쪽에 마련된 제 1의 λ/2 위상차판 및 λ/4 위상차판의 지상축(또는 진상축)과, 다른쪽에 마련된 제 2의 λ/2 위상차판 및 λ/4 위상차판의 지상축(또는 진상축)이 직교하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항 또는 제 3 항에 있어서,상기 한 쌍의 기판 중 한쪽에 마련된 위상차판을 λ/2 위상차판 및 λ/4 위상차판으로 구성하고, 다른쪽에 마련된 위상차판을 λ/4 위상차판으로 구성한 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 청구항 1 또는 청구항 3에 기재된 액정 표시 장치를 구비한 것을 특징으로 하는 전자기기.
