Abstract
Description
平滑な表面を有する化学強化ガラス基体(HOYA社製N−10ガラス基体)を洗浄し、非磁性基体10を準備した。洗浄後の非磁性基体10を、スパッタ装置内に導入した。圧力0.67PaのArガス中でCuSiターゲットを用いたDCマグネトロンスパッタリング法により、膜厚50nmのCuSiヒートシンク層20を形成した。
Fe50Pt50およびTiO2を混合した75体積%(Fe50Pt50)−25体積%TiO2ターゲットを用いて、Fe50Pt50−TiO2からなる上部磁気記録層42を形成したことを除いて、実施例1と同様の手順を繰り返して、磁気記録媒体を得た。本実施例においても、下部磁気記録層41および上部磁気記録層42の膜厚のそれぞれを、2〜8nmの範囲内で変化させた。
上部磁気記録層42(Fe50Pt50−SiO2層またはFe50Pt50−TiO2層)を形成しなかったこと、および下部磁気記録層41(Fe50Pt50−C層)の膜厚を2〜12nmの範囲内で変化させたことを除いて実施例1の手順を繰り返して、単層構造の磁気記録層を有する磁気記録媒体を得た。
下部磁気記録層41(Fe50Pt50−C層)を形成しなかったこと、および上部磁気記録層42(Fe50Pt50−SiO2層)の膜厚を2〜12nmの範囲内で変化させたことを除いて実施例1の手順を繰り返して、単層構造の磁気記録層を有する磁気記録媒体を得た。
下部磁気記録層41(Fe50Pt50−C層)を形成しなかったこと、および上部磁気記録層42(Fe50Pt50−TiO2層)の膜厚を2〜12nmの範囲内で変化させたことを除いて実施例2の手順を繰り返して、単層構造の磁気記録層を有する磁気記録媒体を得た。
波長785nmの光を発生するレーザー、光導波路、および近接場光を発生させるための散乱体を具えた熱アシスト方式の磁気記録ヘッドを取り付けた市販のスピンスタンドを用いて、記録再生信号の信号雑音比(SNR)特性を測定することによって、磁気記録媒体を評価した。

Claims (7)
- 非磁性基体と、磁気記録層とを少なくとも含み、
前記磁気記録層が、下部磁気記録層と上部磁気記録層とを有し、
前記下部磁気記録層は、磁性結晶粒と、前記磁性結晶粒を取り囲み、カーボンを主成分とする材料からなる非磁性部とを有するグラニュラー構造を有し、
前記上部磁気記録層は、磁性結晶粒と、前記磁性結晶粒を取り囲み、前記下部磁気記録層の非磁性部とは異なる材料からなる非磁性部とを有するグラニュラー構造を有する
ことを特徴とする熱アシスト磁気記録用の磁気記録媒体。 - 前記上部磁気記録層の非磁性部は、シリコン酸化物、シリコン窒化物、チタン酸化物、およびチタン窒化物からなる群から選択される材料で構成されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の熱アシスト磁気記録用の磁気記録媒体。
- 前記下部磁気記録層の磁性結晶粒および前記上部磁気記録層の磁性結晶粒は、規則合金からなることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の熱アシスト磁気記録用の磁気記録媒体。
- 前記規則合金は、Fe、CoおよびNiからなる群から選択される少なくとも一種の元素と、Pt、Pd、AuおよびIrからなる群から選択される少なくとも一種の元素とを含む合金であることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の熱アシスト磁気記録用の磁気記録媒体。
- 前記規則合金は、FePt、CoPt、FePd、およびCoPdからなる群から選択されることを特徴とする請求項4に記載の熱アシスト磁気記録用の磁気記録媒体。
- 前記非磁性基体と前記磁気記録層との間に、ヒートシンク層およびシード層からなる群から選択される1つまたは複数の層をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1から5のいずれかに記載の熱アシスト磁気記録用の磁気記録媒体。
- 前記磁気記録層の上に、保護層をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1から6のいずれかに記載の熱アシスト磁気記録用の磁気記録媒体。
