Regarding various volatile liquid substances used in the fields of sex pheromones, fragrances, and insecticides, there is an advantage in gradually releasing appropriate amounts over a long period of time instead of spraying or releasing them all at once. is extremely large, and it is therefore desirable to develop an instrument that can achieve this purpose.

From this point of view, the inventors of the present invention previously proposed a sex pheromone release tube in which a polyethylene thin tube is filled with a sex pheromone substance (Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 55-46567
issue). This method has the advantage that the sex pheromone substance permeates through the thick part of the tubule and is gradually released into the atmosphere from the entire outer circumferential surface of the tubule. However, as a result of repeated trials, we found that in the case of the above-mentioned tubule, As release progresses, there is a problem that the release rate slows down as the amount of residual liquid (sex pheromone substance) in the tubule decreases, and when trying to release at a relatively high release rate for a long period of time. (for example, for more than 100 days), it is difficult to determine the filling amount of volatile liquid substance and the surface area of the capillary, and it has been found that in this case it is usually necessary to add a new discharge tube midway through.

本考案はこの問題点を解決したものであつて、

The present invention solves this problem.
This is a method for releasing volatile substances by providing a liquid reservoir at one end of a polyethylene capillary tube, disposing a thread along the entire length inside the capillary, and immersing one end of the thread into the volatile liquid substance in the reservoir. Concerning vessels.

According to the present invention, (1) the volatile liquid substance is released at a constant rate even when the remaining amount of liquid is low; (2)
By varying the filling amount of the liquid reservoir, it is possible to release the amount of liquid at a constant rate that corresponds to the desired period. (3) By changing the length and thickness of the polyethylene tube, the amount of liquid can be released as desired (4) The polyethylene capillary is inert to volatile liquid substances and will not deteriorate or break even if exposed to the elements for long periods of time. is given.

The polyethylene thin tube 1 is required to have the function of gradually volatilizing volatile liquid substances through its thick part and to have a certain degree of mechanical strength. Further, it should not be extremely thin-walled, and is preferably a thin tube having a wall diameter of 0.3 to 1.5 mm and a wall thickness of 0.1 to 1 mm. If you want to increase the release rate from the tube surface, you can make the tube longer or thinner, or even use a tube made of low-density polyethylene. Conversely, if you want to slow the release rate, you can make the tube longer or thinner. For this purpose, it is best to use short tubes, thicken the wall thickness, or even use medium or high-density polyethylene tubes.

The volatile liquid substance to be sealed in the liquid reservoir 2 of the volatile substance emitting device includes fragrances or sex pheromone substances. The material can be filled and then a polyethylene capillary tube and thread can be inserted into the reservoir. Note that the volatile liquid substance may be initially filled not only in the liquid reservoir but also in the polyethylene capillary tube.

The seal portion 5 may be formed by heat-melting sealing or by simultaneously fixing the sealing thread with an adhesive, and it is desirable that the other end of the thread reaches the bottom of the liquid reservoir 2.

The thus obtained volatile substance emitter of the present invention progresses in volatilization and release of liquid substances as it is used.
This has the advantage that the volatilization rate of the liquid substance from the surface of the capillary remains approximately constant, since the threads continually transport the liquid substance to the top of the capillary even when the liquid volume is low.

Example 1 A cotton thread with a thickness of 0.3 mm and a length of 275 mm is passed through a low-density polyethylene capillary with a wall thickness of 0.45 mm, an inner diameter of 0.8 mm, an outer diameter of 1.7 mm, and a length of 210 mm.The end of one end of the thread is aligned with the end of the polyethylene capillary, and the polyethylene The tip of the thread was melted and sealed between the tip and the end of the thread. Fill with 300mg of dodecenyl acetate,
Insert the tip of the polyethylene tubule with the above thread into the bottom of the glass container, insert the polyethylene tubule itself into the glass container by 10 mm, seal the joint with sellotape, and place the polyethylene tubule vertically. When the nyl acetate goes up the thread by capillary action and reaches the tip,
When the release rate was measured at 30°C and a wind speed of 0.5 m/sec, it continued to be released at a constant rate of 5.2 mg/day, and was released almost completely over a period of 59 days.

Example 2 A high-density polyethylene tube with a wall thickness of 0.28 mm, an inner diameter of 0.6 mm, and a length of 110 mm was used instead of the low-density polyethylene tube of Example 1, and the scent of lily of the valley was used instead of cis-8-dodecenyl acetate. A release device was made in the same manner as in Example 1 except that linalool was used, and the release rate was measured. Linalool was released at a constant rate of 14 mg/day, and the entire amount was released in 22 days.
