Abstract

PURPOSE: To avoid the coolant lack in a refrigeration cycle by reducing the pressure of a liq. coolant through a cooling or heating capillary tube to flow it as a wet vapor into a small-aperture connection pipe in the heating or cooling operation. CONSTITUTION: In the cooling operation a coolant from a compressor 1 is introduced from a four-way switching valve 2 to an outdoor heat exchanger, condenses therein, passes through a cooling capillary tube 4 in an outdoor unit to this unit via a small-aperture connection pipe 9. The coolant in the outdoor unit evaporates in an indoor heat exchanger 6 and returns to the compressor 1 via a large-aperture connection pipe 10 and four-way switching valve 2. Such coolant flowing as a wet vapor in the pipe 9 after lowering its pressure by the capillary tube 4 increases its specific vol. to thereby reduce the amount of the coolant resident in the piping 9. This solves the disadvantage i.e., coolant lack in the refrigeration cycle if the connection pipe 9 is long.
