Abstract
PURPOSE:To compute a change of three-dimensional coordinates and thereby to enable the calculation of the shape and dimensions of an object, by applying a spot light onto the surface of the object to be measured so that it scans the surface, and by measuring the position of a formed image by means of three sensor units. CONSTITUTION:A sensor unit U consists of a cylindrical lens L and a linear sensor S disposed in the direction perpendicular to the optical axis at an image forming position. Three sensor units U, U' and U'' having this constitution are provided at different positions, and a spot light is applied onto a point P on an object J. When positions Si, S'i and S''i of the formed images of the irradiation point P are obtained on sensors S, S' and S'' of the units U, U' and U'' and one plane is specified from each of the positions by the units, the three-dimensional coordinates of the point P can be computed as the intersecting points of the three planes. By scanning the surface of the object J sequentially by the irradiation point P of the spot light, the whole of the object can be represented as the three-dimensional coordinates.
