Abstract
PURPOSE: To offer a scale-inhibitor excellent in inhibition of scale generation and dispersibility of scale deposite, which comprises a block coplymer including two kinds of repeated structural units represented by specified formulas, the ratio of the two units being in a specified range.
CONSTITUTION: The scale-inhibitor comprises a block copolymer including two repeated structural units A and B represented by the formula I(N is an integer of 5W100) and the formula II(R is H or CH3, and X is H, a monovalent or divalent metal, NH3 or an organic amine group, respectively), the weight ratio of total A to total B being 5:95W60:40. The copolymer is prepared, for instance, by copolymerizing relevant polyethylene glycol monoallylether and a methacrylic monomer with use of a polymerizing initiator and optionally neutralizing the product with an alkakine substance. If n is below the lower limit, the effect of the copolymer as an inhibitor would not be sufficient. If n exceeds the upper limit, the copolymerizing reactivity wound be lower and an effective copolymer would not be obtained. If the total ratio of A to B is out of the said range, the excellent quality would not be obtained.
