Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve weather resistance of a side wall portion and diminish the weight, by forming an outer rubber layer of the side wall portion with a side cover layer united with a chafer and causing the edge of the rubber layer to reach the side face of a ground-contacting rubber layer.
CONSTITUTION: A side cover layer 7 is integrated with an outer layer 71, a chafer 72 and an inner layer 73. The outer layer 71 is stuck to a side wall portion 2 directly covering the outside of a carcass ply 4 and its edge 7a is stuck in such a way as to wrap up a side end 11a of a ground-contacting rubber layer 11, cover the whole side face 11b of the ground-contacting rubber layer 11 and reach the circumferential edge 11c of the ground-contacting rubber layer 11. The chafer 72 is stuck in such a way as to wrap up a bead portion and reach the inner lower portion of the carcass ply 4. An inner layer portion 73 is stuck covering the whole inner surface of the carcass ply 4. In this manner, an outer rubber layer of the side wall 2 is formed with the outer layer 71.
