Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a highly durable paint film having a high resistance to long- term exposure and water immersion by coating a specific paint composition on the galvanized surface. CONSTITUTION:A primer, consisting of 100pts.wt. resin composition, composed of 99-60wt% epoxy resin with two or more epoxy groups on its terminal, and 1- 40pts.wt. vinyl butyral (a), 1-250pts.wt. one or more of oxyacid salts and metal oxides (b), and 10-250pts.wt. flaky pigment (c), is coated on a galvanized surface and dried. Then, one or more paints of various kinds are further coated on the primer film and dried. The said epoxy resin is a mixture of an epoxy resin and a cross linking agent. The said component (b) chemically reacts with zinc plating to increase the adhesion of the paint film; that is, in case where the component (b) consists of a phosphate and an other oxyacid salt and/or a metal oxide, the component forms a chelate bond with hydroxide in the said component (a) to give a strong adhesion.
