Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the tightness between a phosphor member and a cover plate by forming a glass layer having low melting point on a cover plate made of a transparent glass, then after forming a photoresist layer mixed with phosphor subsistance on said glass layer burning it under predetermined temperature. CONSTITUTION:When forming a phosphor material layer of a cover plate facing with an electrode supporting substrate through a discharge gas space, a glass paste having low melting point is printed on the surface of a transparent glass cover plate 2 through the printing then it is burnt to form a glass layer 8 having low melting point. Thereafter a photoresist layer mixed with phosphor material is formed on the glass layer 8 and formed to predetermined pattern through the photographic exposure to produce a phosphor member 7'. Then said member 7' is burnt under predetermined temperature to disperse the burnt photoresist thus to make said layer 7' into a phosphor material layer and the glass layer 8 will catch the phosphor material. Consequently the tightness between the phosphor material layer and the cover plate 2 is increased to prevent the dropping of the phosphor material layer while the production yield and the indicated quality can be improved.
