Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform the effective treatment of waste water by ozone by using a small capacity of a reactor tank in which surfactant substances present in water to be treated are concentrated by a foam separating method on defoamed liquid side, and the defoamed liquid is brought into contact with ozonized gas in a rotary disk type vapor-liquid contacting apparatus.
CONSTITUTION: Water to be treated is supplied through a supply pipe 1 to a foam- separating zone 2, where foaming is promoted by air supplied from the bottom. The water so treated is taken out of a conduit 3, and the foam so formed is sent through a conduit 5 to a foam-breaking zone 6, where the foam is broken to form defoamed liquid. The defoamed liquid in which most of surfactant substances are highly concentrated is then introduced into a rotary disk type ozone treatment unit 14, where the film of defoamed liquid is formed on a rotary disk 19 and brought into contact with ozonized gas supplied from an ozonizer 8. Thus, the defoamed liquid is subjected to an ozone-oxidative decomposition treatment.
