Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the flow of gases into a heaing chamber and effectively prevent a thermal energy loss by providing means of sucking the amount of the gas corresponding to the excessive amount of the gas in a cooling in the inlet position of the cooling chamber juxtaposed with the heating chamber. CONSTITUTION:In annealing or the like of a metallic strip 8, the strip 8 entered to a heater 1 through a through-hole 6 is supported afloat by a heating gas and is thereby heated. Thence, it enters cooler 15 through a through-hole 7, and is cooled by the cooling gases from chambers 18a, 18b. In this state, a shielding gas is blown through a nozzle 24 from the 1st duct 23 toward the strip 8. This gas is sucked to the 2nd duct 24 through a nozzle 26. Hence, even if the cooling gases blown from plenum chambers 18a, 18b try to flow into the heating chamber side, the inflow thereof is blocked due to the high furnace pressure of the cooling chamber.
