Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the utilization rate of a fuel, and enhance the combined efficiency of a power generation device for a fuel cell by providing reaction gas spaces over the whole flow paths of a fuel gas, so that the density of the reaction gas is made almost constant irrespective of the consumption of the fuel gas. CONSTITUTION:A cooler holder 18 is provided with cooling pipes 19 and 20. Six cells 2 for a fuel cell are stacked in layers and are provided on each side of the holder 18. The holder 18, and the stacked bodies each consisting of six cells 2 are pressed from the upper and the lower sides by means of clamp metal tools 21. The space in a mainfold 3 is divided into an inlet-side gas chamber 22 and outlet- side gas chambers 23. An inlet 7 of the manifold 3 is connected to inlet-side gas chambers 221 and 222, each of which is led into four cells 2 of each of the former stacked bodies. An outlet 8 of the manifold 3 is connected to the outlet-side gas chambers 23, which are connected to the four cells 2 of the former stacked bodies. The space in a manifold 4 serves as a common gas chamber 24. A fuel gas sent from the inlet-side gas chambers 221 and 222, is passed through parallel placed eight cells 2 into the common gas chamber 24, before it is passed through parallel placed four cells 2 and flows into the outlet-side gas chambers 23.
