Abstract
PURPOSE: Barium oxide or hydroxide is added to a concentrated sodium aluminate solution in the presence of sodium carbonate, then they are filtered and aluminum hydroxide is precipitated and calcined to produce the titled alumina that is suitably used as a percelain material for high-degree integrated circuits.
CONSTITUTION: In the production of alumina where seeds of aluminum hydroxide are added to a high-concentration sodium aluminate solution to precipitate aluminum hydroxide and the aluminum hydroxide is calcined, barium oxide and/or barium hydroxide, when necessary, additionally at least one of active carbon, sodalite, ferric hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide or red mud are added to the aluminate solution in the presence of sodium carbonate, then they are stirred for a while and subjected to pre-treatment of filtering the precipitate. Radioactive substances are very effectively removed from the sodium aluminate solution to give alumina of low α-ray dose that is suitably used as a percelain material for high-degree integrated circuits.
