Abstract

PURPOSE:To effectively burn fuel of low calorific value, by providing a heat exchanger for preheating of fuel and/or combustion air outside of an encircling wall which partitions off a combustion chamber, and by introducing the fuel and/or air preheated in the heat exchanger into a combustion chamber, in the titled burner. CONSTITUTION:The fuel gas of low calorific value is fed from a gas nozzle 15 into a mixing chamber 13, ignited and burnt, sucking the combustion air in a preheated air passage 19. The combustion gas, passing through an encircling wall 4, and through a combustion gas flow path 11 and an outlet 6, flows into a heat receiving part. At this time, the encircling wall 4 made of porous solid is promptly heated to raise its temperature, and the inside of a combustion chamber 3 is maintained in high temperature by radiant heat transferred from an encircling wall 4. The combustion gas of which temperature is decreased during passing through an encircling wall 4, can preheat the combustion air, circulating through a heat exchanger passage 5, by heating the inside of a heat exchanger passage 5, mainly by convection heat transfer, when the combustion gas is passing through a flow path 11.
