Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce recording power by forming a recording layer to be formed with recording pits by melting through a heat insulating material layer on a substrate.
CONSTITUTION: A substrate 1 having a smooth surface 11a is provided by a resin or glass, and an information recording layer 12 with 50W1000Å thicknesses consisting of a low m.p. metal consisting of an alloy contg. Bi, Te or at least one of these or an alloy consisting essentially of these and contg. In, Sb, Sn, Pb, etc. is deposited via a heat insulating material layer 13 on said surface 11a. A material layer 13 having a high transmittance to semiconductor laser light (l), having heat resistant to temp. during recording of the layer 12 and possessing high heat conductivity and a heat insulation effect is selected for the layer 13.
