Abstract

PURPOSE: To form a die for producing a plastic molding having an indented pattern, by transferring a resist ink layer having a desired pattern formed on a substrate sheet onto the die surface, and etching the die surface while the resist ink layer serves as a mask.
CONSTITUTION: A resist having resistance to acids and adhesive property is printed in a desired pattern on the substrate sheet (a polypropylene sheet, nylon sheet, etc.) 1 removable from the resist layer to form the resist ink layer 2. The sheet 1 is placed on a die 3 with the resist ink layer 2 facing the die 3, is pressed into the die 3 and then is removed so that the ink layer 2 is transferred onto the surface of the die 3. With the ink layer 2 as a mask, the die 3 is etched so that the molding die 3 having a desired indented pattern on the surface which is suitable for producing a plastic item is obtained.
